Archeologists have unearthed what they say is the oldest known version of the Mayan calendar and one that doesn't "end" with the Earth's destruction later this year. Yeah, you're welcome.
According to The Washington Post's Brian Vastag, researchers excavating the "lost" city of Xultún in present-day Guatemala discovered new astronomical tables carved into the wall of a "1200-year-old residential building." Much like the Maya codices that conspiracy theorists say predict an end-of-the-world date in December 2012, the tables chart planetary movements, moon and star patterns, and can predict the positions of celestial bodies thousands of years into the past and the future.

LOL!
Nothing ever said the Mayan calender ever indicated anything other than a "rolling over."
After all, it's a wheel.
On the other hand, a second hand clicks off a minute hand when it finishes a cycle, and a minute hand clicks off an hour hand when it finishes a cycle. Likewise, the Mayans say that when this calendar finishes its cycle on December 21, 2012 (winter solstice), if finishes the "Fourth Sun" and initiates the "Fifth Sun."
What does that mean?
"Something wonderful."
Not to mention some outrageous EOTW parties.
How do you "max out" free money? That dude Visa pays for everything. I even have these four winning numbers that when I stick the card in the lotto machine at the bank and play those numbers.....yup, you guessed it; winner every time.
The irony of the timing of this is unbelievable. Those who thought the world would end THIS YEAR in 6 months suddenly have a new calendar that says NOT YET.
The correction is found in the year we were all freaked out.
I'ma soa screweda.................
so, what if these older ones were wrong ? what if they incorrectly carried a 2 or something What if the newer ones corrected the error ?
So, let’s continue to party like it’s 1999.
Phew that was close. They discovered it just in time.
I’m gonna need a different reason to party?
I wonder how this news will play on Rainbow spirit chat?
Dam ...I had my doom all planned
Mayan Playboy Calendar Discovered at 1200 Year Old Truck Stop
Oh, well, Rainbow chat will find another end-of-the-world prediction — or two, or three.
“...can predict the positions of celestial bodies thousands of years into the past”
I can predict my past with 100% accuracy, too. Except for those times I was stupefyingly drunk as a college kid. Or perhaps for those early moments of rapture when the earth moved for me, too.
What is ending according to their calendar system, is a “sun” or an age. We’re leaving the fourth sun and entering the fifth. It’s a new creation under the Mayan cosmology ormythology, take your pick.
A “sun” is a complete transit of the zodiac, thousands of years. The first sun began with the “birth” of the planet Venus, or so the story goes. “Suns” die violently. The last was purported ushered in with a great, cataclysmic flood. This one, movement, darkness and cold, although just what that could mean is not settled at all, even among those who follow the belief.
Me, I only look at the advanced astronomy of which they appear to have been capable, and have some curiosity or concern that there may be some astronomical reason, something cyclical on a very long orbit, that could be the basis for this. The whole thing is so thoroughly tinfoil by now, that it’s pretty well impossible to get objective information sans hype.
If there’s anything at all to it, the sky’s going to get increasingly active. I sincerely doubt a world changing event is associated with this, but it gives me enough pause to look.
