Mitt Romney reaffirmed his view that marriage is between "a man and a woman," offering a sharp contrast to President Obama who announced earlier today that he now backs the right of gay couples to marry.
Speaking to reporters after a campaign event in Oklahoma City, Romney said his position on same sex marriage is unchanged despite Obama's shift on the issue.
"I have the same view on marriage that I had when I was governor. I believe marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman," Romney said. "I have the same view I've had since, well, running for office."
Romney's comments come just hours after Obama told ABC News he now backs the right of same sex couples to marry. At a campaign event in Colorado earlier Wednesday, Romney had declined to comment on the president's shift when questioned about the news by reporters.
"Not on the rope line," he told Politico's Reid Epstein.
Romney did address the topic of same sex marriage in a local television interview earlier Wednesday. Asked by Fox affiliate KDVR-TV about a bill that would have allowed civil unions for same-sex couples in Colorado, Romney reiterated his belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.
"Well, when these issues were raised in my state of Massachusetts, I indicated my view, which is I do not favor marriage between people of the same gender, and I do not favor civil unions if they are identical to marriage other than by name," Romney told KDVR. "My view is the domestic partnership benefits, hospital visitation rights, and the like are appropriate but that the others are not."

Funny thing is that Obama’s probably against it while Romney’s really for it.
Yup. The pander bears are out of hibernation.
Unreal.
He reaffirms he is strongly behind marriage and then says he favors domestic partnerships, which is marriage in all but name.
Mitt Romney’s only argument to get conservative votes is that Obama is too far to the left, and keeps moving farther and farther left, like Obama did today on his marriage flip-flop.
I do not know if I can vote for Romney in November or if leave my ballot blank at the top. Both candidates are trying hard not to win my vote.
So Romney when you where governor and the whole issue came up...I guess I just imaged it, never mind.
Mittens reminds me of the governor of Texas in the movie “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” . . . “do a little side step”. I think it was Charles Durning that played him. In every movie I ever saw him, he was great.
Actually, Oboy was for in 1996 and then against it and now he’s for it again. Pretty much the same of Romney. A race of two flip floppers to see who can flop the most. It’s like throwing a couple of fish on the deck of a boat.
As long as Romney sticks to the “STATE’S RIGHTs” mantra on this, he’s ok...
This is the liberals’ version of distraction by social issues. As long as they can draw Romney into some inane argument about who’s nicer to gays, Obama doesn’t have to talk about the economy.
Question is did Romney ‘devolve’ back to this position?
Or will he ‘revolve’ if elected in Nov.
Obama was for it before he was against it. He was for it when he ran for state senate, then against it when he ran for US Senate, then sort for it in 2007, then against it in 2008. Bit the truth is he was always for it.
As for Myth, the man is a chameleon. Dump him in a box of Democrats, he turns blue. Dump him in a box of Republicans he turns red. Just because he was in a blue box first doesn't mean that's what he "really" believes. I don' know if he really believes in anything.
That's not fair. Ask him tomorrow, maybe he'll re-equivocate.
Here's a pic of Mitt kissing another dude.

Obama says whatever gets him votes, nothing more, he’s getting on the same-sex marriage issue to hopefully try sex-baiting Romney to argue with him on that issue, whether or not Romney does is entirely up to him. Obama’s desperate, and he is showing it.
Anyone who has been paying attention KNOWS that MR is pro-homosexual marriage. I’ve already seen people of FB post that they don’t mind if he gets the presidency because they know he will support homosexual marriage (and obamaromneycare).
“Hello” he lied.
Protecting marriage is extremely important to conservatives.
“I’m against gay marriage. It’s too bad my judicial picks aren’t.” - Mitt Romney
Imagine that, a noob attacking Romney. Too hot in the White House basement?
