Some pretty good stories have come out of this track about those who raced there with fierce abandon and paid the price..
Saddle up and ride along as we see who The Lady in Black kisses this time.
Who's gonna get a stripe or two this race? Cinch it up real tight for Saturday Night!!

This Week , Saturday Night racing at the Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington.
Click for Nascar race & news threads at FR Race Menu for the weekend series Darlington Raceway Track History Believing that Bill France's fledgling NASCAR just might catch on, Harold Brasington set out in the fall of 1949 to shape a 1.25-mile speedway on land that had once produced peanuts and cotton. Brasington himself often manned the controls of bulldozers and grading equipment. His plan called for a true oval, but the racetrack's design had to be changed in order to satisfy the landowner, who did not want his nearby minnow pond disturbed. The west end of the track (Turns 3 and 4) was narrowed to accommodate the fishing hole, creating Darlington's distinctive egg-shaped design. The Lady in Black race thread is up! Ping!
Is Danica racing?
Yes, she has a guaranteed ride for the cup race.. as long as she doesn’t crash both her cars in practice.. this is one of ten or so she’s running on the cup circuit.. she’s full time nationwide for now, no indy except in nascar races..
My son and I were invited to the recent NASCAR race (Friday night Nationwide) at Richmond along with several other Gold Star families. We had a NASCAR-provided escort and were dragged all over the infield and pits. Got to sit in the pre-race driver’s meeting and got a standing ovation from all the drivers and crew chiefs. Very hospitable folks and a real experience.
If you would please add me to your ping list. While I cannot always take the time to post, my next six weeks transferring to Concord, NC is going to entail a bunch of work and commitment.

She didn’t do so well in the Nationwide after getting a 7th row start.
Hopefully she does better this time.

PLEASE...Can’t you see I’m watching Swamp People!!!
Try and hit the chew can next time.
Ma likes to keep the place tidy.
That’s good Norm!!! I think they also star in the Pickers or Storage Wars...
A couple of days late but thanks Norm, again, for the work on the thread. If you want something to consume all of your time try hand-sanding and painting a house in three months.
Lows in the teens the last coupla days here but highs forecast to be in the 80’s this weekend.
Really, really, really looking forward to Saturday night racing. AB Kobe beef burgers on the menu and what’s a dog doing in 1st place?
1st Place? Really? I hadn’t noticed...
Per your advice I’ve followed the direction of Dolly’s tail while making my picks. Works like a charm - that and a LOT of luck.
Are you getting any part of the heat wave that’s coming or will it be fog city down there?
If someone suggests that you use a “duo” prime & paint in one don’t do it. Doesn’t work on hardy-plank where I’m going from a light brown to a light yellow. (MIL’s house)
All I ask is for you to cleanup after yourself if you know what I mean and you DO know what I mean...
Danica’s running more races than me this year, it seems. I’ve got three briskets in the apple juice for tommorrow. Should have about 25 people at my house for race/bbq/poker.
