IIRC Algeria did a similar thing when it looked like radical Islamists would win. Some people are so dumb they will voluntarily vote for totalitarianism once, a second chance being foreclosed by their first vote, as in the German plebiscite that made Hitler dictator for life.

I meant to add that I can't wait to hear how Obama rationalizes this. What circumstances would be good enough for Obama to support the suspension of democratic elections anywhere?

Scary thought. With each passing day I fear this becomes a possibility. I'm wondering what that new bunker at the White House is being built for. Was the Secret Service overhauled for this purpose? Will Obama suspend the election or will he drop Biden and choose Hillary to capture the female vote?? Are these 'foiled terrorist bomb plots' designed by our gov't to prepare us for martial law? Is the United States being controlled by an outside entity like the U.N.? Is Romney one of them too? Does our election really even matter? Are our concerns for political issues all for not? Will my tin foil hat save me? LOL
