62% [of mormons] say that Americans are uninformed about the religion. Yet the reluctance of most Mormons to discuss their beliefs and customs with non-members only adds to secular suspicion that the church is a cult.

Romney would also be assigned two home teachers fellow Mormons who live in his vicinity and would visit with Romney once a month, probably in the White House, to counsel him on his faith and general emotional state

Less than two hours after my visit despite giving staffers only my first name and filling out no paperwork I was startled to get a voicemail on my cellphone from someone identifying himself as a prophet, saying that hed like to start interceding for your life and asking me to call an 800 number to join a prayer circle.

Shell be worshipping with Brother Romney should he win. Even if he loses, however, author Feldman thinks that his nomination itself is a watershed moment.
That so many Americans dont know hes a Mormon, and that his religion wasnt a factor in this primary as it was four years ago thats directional, he says. Its a historically significant moment, and its progress. Were improving as a country.

You are speaking of my mormon family.
Neither is right....I’m totally against both...their are no redeeming qualities on either side of that fence.
Romney in 2012
How then can we expect any Mormon Congressional Representative to oppose anything Romney might do as President? nor speak anything but favorability toward Romney?.... not only as he runs...but if he assumes the Presidency? Will those who should oppose him do so or are they under the authority of that oath they took not to “speak against their leader”?.... especially since a Church member's own sense of ethics is ‘always superseded’ by the Church's policy....
I'm sorry your family is in that Stronghold...but it can be broken....I'm sure you and others have been instrumental to encourage them to seek the truth....but it does take the Lord God's timing for when that happens...as soon as they want to know the truth.
That’s where I am, too.
Amazing crappola here. AS for the 'visitations'; guess it is okay if the name of the 'counselor's are the Muslim Brotherhood; or Louis Farrakhan; or Rev. Wright or Professor Bell.
OMG. . .
In 2010 Thirteen Mormon members 'of the United States Congress' sent a strong letter to the Swiss Ambassador, when the Swiss had determined banning missionaries from other countries. ....The 13 letter signers 'were protesting' the Swiss Governments banning of Mormon missionaries from that county. This was not protesting all missionary expulsions... but specifically Mormons.
The one page letter 'signed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid' and f'our other United States Senators 'and eight 'House members' was sent to the Swiss Ambassador and said:
......We earnestly petition the Swiss Government to reconsider its decision and work with us and the LDS Church to find a solution which would permit LDS missionaries to continue to perform their missionary service in Switzerland as they have done since 1850.
In his reply letter, the Swiss Ambassador referred to one recent meeting to discuss the situation between high ranking Swiss Government officials and the United States Ambassador to Switzerland Don Beyer, and at least one top mormon church leader.
These five Senators and eight House Members were USING THEIR OFFICES to influence governments on behalf of the Mormon church...rather than address the issue from the prospective of the Swiss ban of all missionaries.
Their letter to the Swiss Government states:....... It would be a great tragedy for our two nations if the long-standing missionary program of the LDS Church in Switzerland were terminated,... the congressional members wrote..... Switzerland can have no more enthusiastic, lifetime ambassadors in the United States than these young people when they return home." This is disingenuous. These 13 mormon legislators do not care about creating "ambassadors" for Switzerland out of nineteen year-olds..... Their motive was to continue their work at supporting the church and it's Political tentacles which reach Internationally.
It is more than troubling that elected government officials used their Official Offices and the relationship between nations to press the interests of one church organization, the Mormon Church and it's agenda....but worse excluding all missionaries who were not of the Mormon faith.

Well Catherine, I never thought I’d see the day I’d be voting against both candidates....but here we are.
I’d sure like to believe Ol’ Ron Paul, with his delegate stash, can stir these waters before Romney takes this false win he’s claimed the rest of the way over the line.
Then there’s Ricky Santorum playing the role of the back seat driver with his delegates...but no neeed to worry about Rick, he always paves the road favorably for himself.
Such a bizzare election...I’m about ready to believe anything can happen between now and the convention!
So they say, but if it were true why isn’t there scandal in the LDS like unto that in the evangelical world if Billy Graham had been found visiting prostitutes?
Mitt can’t even do Mormon right.
Mitt is apparently set to win according to the rules of the current agreed game (although I’d still like to see a spirited effort to keep him from getting over the official top in, say, Texas). At the least he will walk into the convention with the most delegates, and for someone else to be brought from behind him in a heated brokering session would be a major miracle.
It’s sad that Mitt did this largely by lying about or at the mildest, totally failing to understand Rick Santorum.
It’s sadder that it happened in open primaries, where Democrats got to pick the Republican which, if not most likely to lose to Obama, at least was most likely not to govern offensively to Democrats.
It’s saddest yet that the genuine Republican turnout in the primaries was so dismal. I don’t think any state broke over 10% of registered Republicans voting.
Strawman much?
Anyhow this is about Mitt and the concern about Mormon influence upon the way he would govern if president.
We can always pray it will. Who knows? God’s in control, whatever happens.
It’s still incredible to me that Romney is the candidate we’re going to get, when we need his polar opposite worse than ever before. Last summer I was sure Romney was the last person we needed to worry about. I figured people would take a look at that lying, plastic empty suit and pass right on over him.
Of course, I also expected Rick Perry would be running away with the nomination by now, and we see how that went.
There are so many tiers of voters anymore you can’t project how things are going to be...and many of them have no interest in this country other than to pilferage it.
If it doesn’t work for them they can always go back to their own country...be it abroad or south....besides we’re building up so many other nations now if they ride it out here a little longer their own country’s will be far better than here...many are already.
Sad..but that’s just how I’m seeing things go here. The streams of revenue leaving this country to make life better for others, to pay off nation leaders and their thugs, and strong arm others, from ‘our pockets to theirs’ is breathtaking.
Imagine if these revenues were staying here, putting our people to work, and building our communities up. But then that is not the purpose of our leaders anymore...(sighing these days more than I care to)
Heck New Yawk City looks like an old beatup town compared to the cities abroad. Our government is no longer investing in this country....nor giving people , companies or businesses incentives to do that....just more and more regulations to stomp them out with.
..and Romney is part and parcel with it all. Based on his history he’s going to do the same thing as Obama has...he’ll keep pouring money into the giants and let the smaller businesses fall. No matter what he’s saying otherwise......that’s his MO from Bain
Bill Ayers viits BO on a regular basis.
Sad comes thru loud and clear....because it is beyond disappointing how this is playing out.
Doesn’t really matter what the rules are to Romney, they all simply change them as they go...or disregard them altogether....because they can.
I still believe in Miracles...I just don’t think God is up for this one....as a nation we certainly don’t deserve it. HEck we had 9/11’..we had 08’..we had other nations citizens pleading with our country...”Don’t Do It”!
All the warnings have been there and continue to be but there’s so little we can do now to prevent the onslaught that’s coming.... This Primary was the last chance IMO....and so far God said no.
Well it is obvious Romney’s the Democrate-Republican Pick...and was long before this started. Then the GOP put out there enough candidates to scuttle the voters.....and they surely did do just that. Course both sides are working together in this so it really wasn’t a difficult take down of the candidates....and of course the media played to whatever they wanted....and none of them hid their plays either.
This all was to entertain and engage us to believe what voters want and desire will be possible, and they played a great deception as they went.
But when Romney jumped ahead to announce his win....and not a single outcry from any .....well then it’s obvious the fix is a done deal. I thhink the turnout in my district was so lame because Romney had called it...and that’s exactly what the purpose was of doing this....discourage the voter to stay home...and they did. 124 came out in my district...half were democrates! So what’s that say....no wonder it’s sad these days.
And more reasons why I will not vote for either. I am finished completely with the Republican Party...it’s merged now with the Democrates. Time for a second party to evolve IMO.

No thank you. None of the above.
This is the same religious bigotry that JFK faced.
Catholicism was seen as a cult in the US up until the mid-20th century
JFKs election had a lot to do with mainstream acceptance and who could blame outsiders for thinking its strange when people say they literally ingest the body and blood of Jesus Christ every Sunday?
Opponents will be in a pickle as to how to tar Mitt with the effect of being Mormon. Implying that it makes him unacceptably “conservative” would give Mitt great joy. He wants to be thrown into that briar patch. Implying that it makes him too liberal? Naw, Democrats would never do that. Mormonism is weird? No weirder than what godless Democrats do daily.
