NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) George Lindsey, who spent nearly 30 years as the grinning Goober on "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Hee Haw," has died. He was 83.

IIRC, Jim Nabors character had been quite popular and, when he left to do Gomer Pyle, USMC, the producers introduced his cousin as a replacement.

Been watching some old TV shows on "MeTV" like Rockford Files, That Girl, Bob Newhart, etc. Quite frankly they're all booooring.
But when I catch the Andy Griffith Show, it's still entertaining, I still laugh and I wish any of today's shows were more like it.
