Attention "Anyone But Obama" (ABO) FReepers! If you go to the thread at the link you will will see that JimRob has "declared a truce" and hundreds of ABO FReepers are now vigorously defending their belief, which I share, that the ineligible Marxist Manchurian MUST BE DEFEATED to preserve the Republic...without fear of "the ZOT"! Please consider a DONATION not just to fund renewal of expression and amplification of your ABO views, but let's over-achieve this FReepathon to get JR his new equipment!

IMO, Free Republic and FReepers could be vital in swing states in rallying just enough conservatives to tip the election and prevent our troops from having to salute for even one day longer than necessary an ineligible Marxist committed to destroying the USA !

So, back off and let me do what God has called me to do. I answer to him, not you.

That you do. It is your duty and obligation to do so, and indeed should be your delight to do so. And yes, I believe you 100% about your praying for your ex brothers and sisters to see the light. In fact, I honor you for it. You have a duty before God and you do it.

I too speak as the Lord moves - and that set of verses is constantly in my thoughts. Because I am a person who cannot know the mind of another. I judge based on my own thought and not God’s will. He doesn’t often talk back to me directly, but when he does, I do what he says.

Your brethren challenged you to examine your beliefs and you came to Truth. That is both a pleasure and a joy to me, even though you are still a heretic in my book unless you are Catholic - and yes, that was a mild joke in bad taste.

The verse, however, says nothing of judging hypocritically. It simply states, whatever criteria you judge by you will be judged by.

It is one of the most clear and unambiguous verses in the bible.

You will be judged as you judge.

Why do people attack us for quoting Mormons rather than Mormons who actually said those things?

Beats me. Maybe for the same reason they get mad at us when we point out what God said in Scripture, as if it's our fault it's in there.

One cannot judge the condition of a person’s heart, but one can judge the teachings of a group by comparing them to Scripture as to whether they are true or false, that is do they line up with Scripture or not?

Mormonism does not.

For the record, I am not nor ever have been Mormon, nor do I have family members who are Mormon.

But I can read.

We have a religion section, which is where most of the discussion takes place. Because of Romney, the subject does cross over however.

This isn’t the only place I do this. This is actually a full time ministry for me now. It was a general statement.

Thanks EnglishCon.

What MAY restore some sanity to this formerly stellar site is for people to realize that we all have the power of personal choice. And it exercise it is our God given right.

Stating our opinions and why we came to believe in something is one thing. Trying to CONTROL, guilt, shame or change the minds of others is where we lose it.

What Christ are you talking about? Certainly not the Biblical Christ that called out false prophets and teachings.I am sure when the apostles were calling out false teachings and prophets Christ would have reprimanded them it were not welcomed. Oh yea as Christians we are commanded to call out false prophets and teachings, which if as you claim to be born again should already know this.
mormonism is not Christianity and people who call it out for what it is are not demonic.
People who through reason are not voting for that liberal called Romney are not demonic they are people who are tired of voting again for another liberal with a R by their name.
Romney is a liberal no different than BHO I will not vote for either one of them.

I agree, dear sister. I know you walk with Him and appreciate your insight, even though you walk a slightly different path from the one I take.

But I cannot and will not give up on anyone. That would be wrong. A spit in the eye for the One who granted me grace after backsliding, breaking commandments and cursing Him out about as vigorously as he has ever been cursed.

We have disputed a few times :)

Your opinion is rock solid as far as I am concerned. I may not agree, but I respect you too much to argue. You came to your conclusion through thought, reading and prayer.

That is enough for me.

Obligatory thing - you are still going to vote down ticket!

I know. I didn’t write the Bible, I’m just quoting it (and defending it).

Sigh...

…the Peace of Westphalia and that made religious hate a private matter

Actually the Peace of Westphalia arranged truce between Lutherans and Roman Catholics but left other sects such as the Anabaptists unprotected and subject to vicious oppression resulting in a substantial migration of the German Anabaptists, Mennonites, Amish etc to Pennsylvania and down into Virginia beginning at the turn of the 18th century.

Many of them followed the same path as the Pilgrims had a century earlier seeking refuge first in Holland and then going on to the New World.

“Where is the anger in that? How is he being shrill?”

Well, usually when someone starts off by calling people bigots who are spewing hatred, it sounds a bit shrill and angry. Maybe that’s just me.

Wasn't a century earlier ~ the crowd that founded Plymouth arrived about 1620, and the King of England was already taking on board more than his fair share of French Protestants, and then Anabaptists, et al ~ and they, in turn, had done a bit of internal immigration before then.

The period you are thinking of as 100 years long was this side of 50 years. Once the Swedes (The Great Protector of the North) were pinned down some Protestants found themselves in dispute with their Catholic nobles, but it was with their own nobles in their own countries, not kings elsewhere.

Remember, this went both ways ~ and plenty of Catholics found themselves under German nobles.

The Pope signed, but as a terrestrial ruler. All the other rulers signed as terrestrial rulers as well. I've looked over those pages of signatures ~ trying to figure out who each one was in reality.

Little did they know they were become famous for the ages.

A note ~ I've been working my way through the history of the Carpathians. These mountains end as a distinct geographic region right at the lip of the great crater that deines Bohemia, so, in effect, the political region (the ridge line) runs from France (if you count the Alps as part of the region) to Ukraine. Right smack in the middle of this thousand mile long line East to West, are the great silver mines where the Thaler was developed as a leading European currency.

One of the first actions of the Swedes even before the 30 years war was to move mining companies South into these mountains to see if there was more stuff and there was. There still is. The Czar actually cleared the population out of the Carpathians and replaced the people with Kossacks,.

“I am really tired of hearing the hatred spewed concerning other beliefs if different than some of these bigots.”

Some one need to start a "Muslims for Peace" thread. Oh never mind a two people ping list probably wouldn’t get many readers.

I have no idea what you were trying to do with that post, but it came across as muddled and strange. And kinda pointless, I think.........but I'm not sure....... Perhaps you can reword it so it makes sense?

Elsie responded to a reference about being fanatical.

You responded to Elz about that brief reference, calling such fanaticism "unChristlike...behavior."

I responded to you...essentially offering a sarcastic commentary as to why are only "faith-based" "fans" called out for being fanatical, whereas in sports it's only accepted but commended! [To the degree that Ohio winds up building some of the biggest stadiums anywhere]

If it's fanaticism per se that bothers you, then just start harping on all fans -- sports-based as well as faith-based...don't start just singling out the latter...

Hey Colo: her name is “ohioWfan” - for George W, get it?? It isn’t about being a sports fan. Some of us know and can remember that.

(Yeah, that's why OhioWfan not only knew what place the Indians were in, but was sure to mention it..."last I checked, the Indians were in first place in their division. So there! ;*" Oh, and btw, in case you didn't know...even posters in our sports-mad culture tend to be able to identify with sports analogies)

I’d call it being right. That’s what bigots do.

Eastforker’s point was proven by the contents of this thread quite possibly better than any other point ever proven in the entire recorded history of points proven.

Americans are free to believe as they choose. A person’s relationship with the Lord is theirs, and if they have no relationship, then that is also theirs, and it is no one else’s business but theirs.

No one is going to come to Christ via the brow beating that is visible here, if anything, the exact opposite will occur.
