She majored in “environmental science”? Didn’t know there was such a field.

Hope she didn’t take out huge loans to get an education in a field which apparently is not going to get her anywhere in a career.

I believe I have identified the crux of the problem:

Alyssa Kjellberg - "environmental science major".

Maybe she should have a real degree where actual work is involved. Last time I checked, B.A. Nurses are in high demand. So are Physician Assistants and of course M.D.’s. Mechanical, electrical and civil engineers can get jobs. So can geologist and fire protection. If she wanted a real job she needed a real major. A real major and a plan.

My humble opinion: the author has the cause and effect backwards.

The post-Clinton 20-somethings today are shiftless, amoral whiners.

Boomers in their 20s were disruptive and slovenly, but all knew in the back of their minds that they would return to reality and get back to work. They were immoral, but at least they had ideals.

Today's kids are the uselss product of the moral morass created by those who defended Bill Clinton.

Actually there’s lots and lots and lots of money in environmental science. She should follow Professor of environmental science Al Gore and his methods: Invest in a green company that makes useless BS, then get Congress to pass a bill that forces the citizens to buy that useless BS.

Her dream of becoming a park ranger

... never had much basis in reality in the first place. So now she wakes up and understands that the world doesn't exist to indulge her dreams, and that when she can make some kind of measurable contribution to society, she will be gainfully employed.

Assuming Obama hasn't killed ALL the jobs in this country ...

Two years beyond college, her career path has led only to jobs at a greenhouse, a hotel front desk, an aunt's office and a seasonal landscaping company -- all paying less than $12 an hour.

Looks to me like she is very employable.

Whats the problem?

Park ranger is a very small class;she should try for a real enviromental job like working in a sweage treatment plant or one of many enviromental jobs in industry meeting EPA regulations.

Only a few people are need to show children where Mr. Squirrell lives.....

Did she send in an application for this job? (BTW - there are a number of jobs available in national parks that pay more than $12.00 an hour)

Stupid kids go to college and get a "stupid studies" degree.

We need to cut off the financial aid for these kinds of programs as they unfairly target women and minorities.
