Elizabeth Warren fumbled through her worst stretch as a Senate candidate this week, setting off a debate among strategists over whether the controversy over her claims to Native American ancestry would linger when the November election is closer.
The Warren campaign will not say when top advisers learned that she considered herself part-Native American, but it was an element of her biography that seemed to catch them off guard.
When news emerged last Friday that Harvard Law School had publicly touted Warren as a Native American professor in the Harvard Crimson in the 1990s, Warren advisers saw it as a story that would go away quickly.
But the story took added dimension when it was revealed that Warren had listed herself as a minority in a major legal directory.
The fallout and her unsteady response to it subjected the rookie Democratic Senate candidate to tough questions, an unflattering national glare, and a recognition from others that she had hit her first real stumble. The Washington Posts political blog, The Fix, gave Warren the dubious honor Worst Week in Washington."
I have yet to run into anyone in politics who believes that this was handled well at all," said Jennifer Duffy, a senior editor at The Cook Political Report who tracks Senate races around the country. The explanations have left enormous room for doubt and speculation."
Right: Little Chief Running Mouth dress-um in native garb after her step-um in heap deep doo doo!

The explanations have left enormous room for doubt and speculation.”
...not to mention hilarity in conservative circles from coast to coast. A favorite quip from Dennis Miller: Elizabeth Warren’s Indian name is “Spreading Bull.”
Love the pic to the right of the article. Was listening to Rush yesterday running errands and he was playing her new campaign theme song “Halfbreed” by Cher which he said hit #1 on the charts way back in 1973. I heard him play a good bit of it at least twice during the show yesterday. LOL
Halfbreed, that’s all I ever heard...
Is this about Fauxcahontus?
ROFLMAO!! Good one.
Great line.I *love* Dennis Miller...funny and articulate. There used to be a station in Wisconsin that ran his show at 7PM Eastern but they switched to Huckabee.Miller,Mark Steyn,Laura Ingraham and Rush are my favorite radio people..Walter Williams is great too.
Socially conservative swing voters really liked Elizabeth Warren before her affirmative action gig became known? Who knew?
Miller’s line is good, I also like Mark Steyns label: Fauxcohontas
You hit the nail on the head. It’s as if some guy tells his wife he’s working late at the office and then he staggers in at 4 in the morning, half-drunk, smelling strongly of Chanel #5, with lipstick on his collar and his zipper, and an empty condom wrapper in his pocket right next to a motel receipt. He got in trouble with his wife because his “explanation” was weak.
Fraud.
Yes, this struck me also - the problem is not that she lies to game the system, but that she couldn’t finesse it the way 0 does with his lies.
No worries though - I predict she wins anyway.
Tin Lizzy is a hollow shell. This is the same woman who, without waiting a week or two to see how it would play out, leapt upon the Occupy Wall Street bandwagon. She said she created the (snort) intellectual foundation for what they do, and supported them fully. So after a few weeks of Occutard rage, she was basically claiming credit for figuring out how to crap on a cop car.
I just looked it up.
Of course, the fact that Warren gamed the system reveals as much about the system as it does about her. My son has a friend who can trace one set of grandparents back to Egypt. The kid was tempted to check the box for “African-American” on his college admissions forms (he decided not to.) The fact that his chances of getting into a prestigious college would have been logarithmically increased by checking that box is, to put it mildly, scandalous.
Selwyn Duke’s blog post on AmericanThinker is the funniest take on this that I have read. He calls her Hocumhontas, and says her Indian name is Stands with Foot in Mouth. He also said she was descended from Chief Stupid Horse.

There have apparently at least a few white South Africans who have checked that box and caused much grief in their local HRs.
