Georgetown is all but begging for a release from the Church.
This will do it. It is waaay past time to cut them loose.
A dis-invite is simply not enough. It is too late.
This Lutheran did.
Shorot and sweet and the truth!
Oops

Another possibility is to contact local bishops and ask them to contact Cardinal Wuerl to get this canceled. After all, every Bishop in the United States signed the petition against the HHS mandate.
I would think they would also be opposed to Sibelius speaking at any Catholic School.
Granted on what you say, but a disinvite would send a strong message.
This is rich.
I guess Sandra F(l)u(c/k)(e)’s little crusade (snicker) worked.
Disgusting.
Agree! Please sign the petition.
Withholding comment in order to give His Eminence a chance to surprise me.
but given the his handling of the Father Guarnizo debacle I'm not holding my breath.
I’ve noticed that Notre Dame and DePaul have gone to the darkside/Left. A real shame as ND and DePaul used to be great centers of education and stalwarts of Catholicism.
(I’m Jewish but I like good institutions of learning no matter what their religious basis is. I went to a Baptist-founded college, Temple Un. and then a secular one, American Un. Leftists got them both but there is some hope for their recovery).
Hesburgh was a good man but he often went offtrack a bit and ended up with the Left.
Now, my guy was the late Cardinal John O’Connor (NY). This man was an intellectual giant on foreign affairs. Loved talking to him.
As I told a friend today, I once met Cardinal Mindszenty (Hungary), another Catholic stalwart, a man of guts in the face of communist tyranny. Also a Russian friend of mine spent years in the Soviet gulag in Siberia with Ukrainian Cardinal Shlipsy (sp). You’d be amazed at what doors that relationship opened up to Avram, a Soviet Jew and myself when we spoke before Ukrainian groups.
We are all brothers and sisters under God, except at GTU.
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle
Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
Cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

You have to truly question which has the higher ethical standing: a secular institution with no religious affiliation or a school with religious credentials that outwardly compromises its ethical beliefs by honoring a person who thwarts everything the Church stands for. If those who attend Georgetown have any values in accordance with the schools principles, they will turn their backs when Sibilius is introduced to speak, and keep their backs to her until she concludes her speech.
” We are all brothers and sisters under God, except at GTU.”
Yes we are! You have had an interesting education on many levels.
I agree with you, to the teeth, and failed to say I am all FOR signing the petition, passing it along to my address book as I pray to God for Mercy on us. Thanks to you, for keeping us informed.
The Jesuit order has devolved into an unspeakable lot. Very trying times for the Church. Georgetown is the nation’s premier Jesuit university. The Jesuits are sworn to defend the Pope specifically and the Church. They care to do neither. The Church is now faced with a very difficult problem. First the covering of Catholic symbols to accommodate Obama, the use of its law school to challenge doctrine and now the invitation of an excommunicated Catholic to further confuse the faithful. Can the Church tolerate such heretic behavior? It may be necessary to disband the Jesuit order and allow individual priests to make their own decisions. Georgetown and the Jesuits are doing grave harm to the Church at a very difficult time.
God bless Bishop Bishop George Murry, S.J.!
No and HELL NO! Just signed it.
The Jesuits did indeed “devolve into an unspeakable lot”, but only the Latin American “Liberation Theology” bunch under Miguel D’Escoto and that other bearded marxist poet in Nicaragua - Ernesto ?; the Brazilian originator of Liberation Theology; Rev. Robert Drinan (D-Mass/GTU Law School); and some of the GTU faculty (re Latin America).
Also, there are some related groups, Quixote Center and Center of Concern, in DC, and William Davis, SJ, who was associated with the extreme leftist Catholic group, The Christic Institute.
On the other hand, the old Jesuits I knew from China/Red China, were firm opponents of communism because they had seen it first hand, and often suffered from it at first hand.
Unfortunately, in the US., the marxist members of the Jesuits got the press coverage, esp. from the Wash. Post whose writers were often as leftist as the people they covered (i.e. Karen DeYoung, literally a disinformation propagandist for the Marxist Sandinistas).
The old Council for Inter-American Security, and Steven Powell, in his book “Covert Cadres: Inside the Institute for Policy Studies”, exposed the leftist “Liberation Theology” jesuits, along with other leftist clergy from WOLA, EPICA, etc, phonebooth propaganda operations for the Latin American marxist movements.
Today, “Rev. Jim Wallis” is the new “Liberation Theology” jesuit surrogate with his marxist Soujourner Organization. Thanks to Mark Tooley and his Institute for Religion and Democracy, you can read weekly what the marxist Religious Left is doing in America, and you will be shocked.
I knew a number of patriotic conservative professors who taught at Notre Dame, GTU, GWU, and American Un., and often they found themselves alone, surrounded by the enemy. This is a tragic story that needs to be exposed on every level.
American Un. always had a leftist chaplain since I was there from 1966-70. Some were clowns, others hardcored marxists like former WOLA leader Joseph Eldridge, who showed up at a White House dinner about a month ago.
(WOLA: Washington Office on Latin America, a pro-marxist propaganda group relied upon by a number of leftwing congressmen/women for information). Also a pet source for the Carter Administration and possibly the Clinton/Obama administrations.
