As a direct descendent of Tennessee Patriots who were veterans of every major conflict in defense of American Liberty from the American Revolution forward, I stand in awe of my home state's distinguished list of Patriot sons and daughters. From 19th-century notables like Andrew Jackson*, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, Nathan Bedford Forrest** and Sam Davis, to a long list of 20th-century Patriots headed by Alvin York, warriors from the "Volunteer State" have distinguished themselves in battle with honor and courage.

This reminds me of the story of Ken McElroy, Nodaway Co., Mo. He was a local bully that local and state law enforcement could not, or would not handle. One day, the local citizens did handle Ken McElroy. See this book: In Broad Daylight is a true crime book detailing the killing of town bully Ken Rex McElroy in 1981 in Skidmore, Missouri, by award-winning writer Harry N. MacLean.[1] The book won an Edgar Award for best true crime writing in 1989, was a New York Times bestseller for 12 weeks (charting at number 2) and was adapted into a television movie. The book was reissued in 2007 by St. Martin's Press with a new epilogue.
