I’m with you. The GOP needs to go the way of the Whigs.

This isn’t a token thing for me either. I need a new home, even if I have to build it from the ground up.

There is great irony in that Romney, the grandson of a polygamist, will be the one to bring down the party that was founded to abolish Polygamy and Slavery.

assuming the R’s have grown a pair since the Trent Lott days.

And that is exactly where my major problem is: look at the "victory" of 2010. We were so proud. Sarah worked so hard and we did it. What is the result? The whole house keep on voting with obama. As soon as they get in Congress they bail out and follow the flow and lose their guts.

That's the problem. What can we do about that??? Seems hopeless all the way.

Without a strong conservatives as president, we will keep on seeing the Senate and the House acting like cowards, even with new blood, like they are doing now.

What part of his background did you overlook that you so easily believe. . . .

In what part of my post #72 did I say that I "easily believe" Romney? Answer: In no part. In fact, I specifically said that I DON'T trust him.

“FR page that compares and recommends candidates in the local races”

I sincerely hope that will happen. As a conservative, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty, and pro-tea party candidate for Congress in Texas District 13, it would be nice to have a venue of true discussion with like-minded individuals!!!

...”A Romney win will entrench the GOP-E socialists in the party....... A President Romney would form a coalition between Congressional RINOs and Dems and hang the Tea Party out to dry......

...... And he will use the power of his office to get more GOP-E candidates in 2014 and fight the rise of the Tea Party tooth and nail - and will be hard to dislodge in 2016,.....leading to yet another electoral disaster in 2018 and 2020 like we saw in the end years of the Bush Admin, due largely to the inherent RINO problems infesting that administration”......

Possible and more than likely...especially with Romneys “other” agenda also in play and positioning of those players...he will be stacking his deck.

It isn’t about me ‘feeling special’ it is about me stand up for what is right.

Supporting Romney is supporting his views and his views are liberal.

Take your chances, you will regret it.

My view may not be popular, but I will sleep with a clear conscience.

It would be completely hypocritical of me to ever vote for Romney, so I will vote against him and Obama both.

To refuse to vote for the “lesser of two evils” puts one in the position of support for the greater of the same two evils by the simple act of not standing in the way of the greater evil’s eventually triumph.

And you, you alone, are the judge of your own actions.

Kinda scary that, isn’t it.

No appeals to authority. Just you and a pen.

Crap - I was told conservatives think for themselves. Someone lied - who was it?

Jim, we are back in the business of a grassroots awareness and education campaign. I send links to FR posts all the time to friends and relatives, primarily to show them how much misinformation comes from the MSM, but also to promote FR. Everybody who is a believer in what we stand for here at FR should do that.

I hold to one premise: that most people eventually recognize and follow the truth when they hear and see it.

We at FR just need to keep putting the truth forward.

I think our most pressing message is that America loses if Republicans continue to relent and compromise toward the left. Continued compromise lets them win and destroys our country.

I heard Rumsfeld say in an interview one time, “You go to war with the army you have.” I don’t like him any better than you do, but unfortunately, Romney “is the army we have”. Instead of alienating him, we should set about to influence him. Just turning him on two or three issues during the course of his presidency could make a world of difference later on.

Above all, we are more effective when we can have a common, tangible goal. Trying to influence him just might be the goal we should have for now.

Thank you Jim Rob for you leadership and dedication. We all should re-dedicate ourselves to promoting our virtuous conservative principles and values.

"Do what you must but I am not prepared to vote Romney. I am not covinced it will be a Romney vs Obama matchup in the general."

I certainly hope you are right ... and if you are, all bets are off. But it certainly APPEARS AT THIS POINT that the election will be Obama vs. Romney, and I am planning accordingly. But I would be delighted to have another realistic choice.

You needn’t worry about Romney winning and destroying the conservative movement. Romney is a loser and he will lose.

And, I am going to help him.

which means voting AGAINST Obama and Romney. That's pretty clear.

The majority of conservatives are going to vote for Romney. Not just the majority, the overwhelming majority. Most of us aren't happy Willard is the nominee, but it is the only vote one can cast that has a chance of helping remove the dog eater from office. If people are free to express their opinion on the subject now, you will quickly see that voting for the Republican nominee has been the majority opinion all along. Hussein is so loathed that the vast majority of conservatives would vote for a tree stump if it was the only candidate that could beat him. There is little appetite for sitting this election out or wasting votes on 3rd party's or write-in's.

Sounds good, so vote for Romney, just as he is or against Obama because he needs to go home and get off my TV!

False logic. My vote will not put a tally count in either Obama's or Romney's column. I will not vote for evil.

And pro-abortion, big-government, anti-gun Romney is evil.

No sale.

4 years ago we reacted the same way. Never again. And we did it again. Same same old...so why would you think we will be different in 4 years? We keep on accepting the GOP choices and we keep on voting for "it" for the same reason - we have to defeat the evil in the White House.

That's where nothing will ever change because they know we always obey at the end.

They knocked down Sarah, Newt etc..and we did not fight for them enough anyway to keep them standing. And now we have romney, like we had mccain.

Why should I believe it will be different in 4 years? The only way to save the country is to send the GOP the way of the whigs and build a new party with Sarah at the wheel and as much in Congress as possible from the same party. That way the GOP will not be able to get rid of us each time.
