With GOP nomination assured, Mitt Romney shifts to the center (The Etch a Sketch gets shaken)

Mitt Romney is shifting to the center to attract important voting blocs that he may have alienated in the bruising Republican presidential primary.

Romney has recently sought to ingratiate himself with voters in industry-heavy Ohio, women, Hispanics and college students by softening his tone on a range of issues.

They want to move us in Athiestic-Socialist Europe direction, where both parties are left of center, one radical the other statist/corporatist (basically the want to make the Republicans like the Democrats) and the Democrats like full blown marxists.

Voting for evil is not a plus under any circumstances I know of.

Romney is a self-professed PROGRESSIVE who has denied being a Reagan man, or a conservative.

I pray the Christian Right votes with a conscience and writes in, or uses whatever “out” God gives on the ballot, and then trust God for the rest.

The GOPE will pass everything Romney the PROGRESSIVE puts up. Obama puts up the same and the GOPE will kill it dead.

OBAMA HAS ALREADY PUT UP THE SAME THING AS ROMNEY, BUT ROMNEY DID IT FIRST!

Rationalize that.

I'd just like to renew the call to NOT vote for this statist. If he is elected, the media will immediately attach "GOP" to EVERY failure of his or Obama's policies. Every increase in the unemployment number will be tagged "Romney's fault", even on Day 1.

Obama and Romney want to go to the same place. Let it happen on Obama's watch, so we can get the civil war over with and get back to a Constitutional order. Vote 3rd party if your conscience so desires, but don't vote for Romney. He needs to go down in Mondale-style defeat.

In real politics there is no center.

There is only the Right, the Left and the Left More Slowly.

~OR~ as Ayn Rand put it -

In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.

I live in a swing state so this matters. Romney was not my guy but it is what it is. This country will never survive another four years of the Obama administration. A write in is a vote for Obama no matter how you try to pretty it up.

I am honored to be the nominee of the Constitution Party for the 2012 election. I offer a real difference from Romney and Obama. I want a balanced budget sooner and not five to ten years in the future. I favor measures that will secure our borders and end illegal immigration and reduce legal immigration. Unlike Obama and Romney, I have called for an almost complete moratorium for green card admissions into this Country while our unemployment rate is so high. Both Obama and Romney have run from taking this much needed step. Last year there were approximately 1.2 million green card entrants into this country. Over 2/3 of that number were working age individuals flooding into the job market when jobs in the United States should go to American citizens first. Obama favors comprehensive immigration reform, which is just a fancy name for amnesty for illegals. Romney needs to strongly support Arizona, Alabama and other states who are fighting the invasion of illegals. Obama, of course, has his Attorney General opposing the statutes of Arizona and Alabama. My views of totally ending illegal immigration and reducing legal immigration are needed if America is to be saved. Both Obama and Romney are weak in this area in my opinion. Both Obama and Romney are gouging huge amounts of campaign funds from PAC’s and big dollar donors. I am not taking any PAC donations, and am also limiting individual donations to $200 per person. It is time for grass roots America to have standing in our Government. I favor the many over the special few.

Tricky Dicky himself said you run to the right to win the nomination, and you run to the left to win the election.

Look how well that worked out for us.

Newt Gingrich is on Hannity.

Newt just said he will do everything in his power to help elect Romney.

I do not always agree with Newt, but -—

This time NEWT IS RIGHT!

Those who refuse to accept Romney, under any conditions, are only going to guarantee the destruction of our country.

Please get over yourselves.

I am anti-Obama to the core, and that means that I have no choice but to vote for Romney.

Ayn Rand: In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.

Another way of saying a deal with the devil is always a losing proposition.

Desperate conservatives are willing to make a deal with the devil, Romney, to avoid risking four more years of Obama. Many of us have loyally been voting Republican for years in order to vote against the very things Romney's record shows that he has advocated: state-run medicine, global warming regulation, abortion on demand, forced enablement of open homosexuality in our culture, and using liberal activist judges to distort law. This is a point where voting for the Republican would be voting against my own moral and fiscal interests.

I'll be voting third party if it's O vs R, let the chips fall where they may. It's the only sensible choice.

So, whom do we vote for...write in?

Every election cycle the GOP feels the need to attract voters left of center, so the candidates move left of center to get the "independent - moderate" vote.

The independents do nothing for the GOP, yet get catered to in the hopes of attracting their vote.

Meanwhile, conservatives, who actively support the GOP get the middle finger because the GOP knows we are going to hold our noses and vote for the GOP candidate.

As long as they know they have you in a corner, with no where to go, you are going to continue to get crapped on.

I'm done with the silly game. Henceforth, if they want my vote, the GOP can earn it.

Bubububububbubut we have to vote for Romney because not doing so is a vote for Obama!

What the “vote for Romney or else you’re voting for Obama” crowd on here doesn’t to get is just how stupid they really sound.

Let’s see. You’re asking us to vote for one pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, anti-gun, pro-government run health care, tax raising, pro-amnesty, pro-”progressive” taxation, anti-religious liberty, pro-big government progressive over another pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, anti-gun, pro-government run health care, tax raising, pro-amnesty, pro-”progressive” taxation, anti-religious liberty, pro-big government progressive? As if it made a bit of difference?

And even the “yeah, well...” arguments don’t wash, because when you get right down to it, we don’t REALLY know that Romney loves America, that he won’t make use of czars and gov’t-expanding executive orders, or that he won’t be just as willing to use the FedGov to creep into every area of our lives as Obama is. We really don’t know these, but given that Romney seems to have the same proclivities in other areas as Obama has, there’s no really good, rational reason to think he won’t act like Obama on these, as well.

Face it, people - there is no really good reason to vote for Romney over Obama. Why not vote for an actual conservative?

Agree with him, or find his endorsement a reason to vote for Romney? No.

Those who refuse to accept Romney, under any conditions, are only going to guarantee the destruction of our country.

Those that refuse to see the light, refuse to take the blinders off, and keep voting for the system in place only guarantee that the destruction of our country, caused by both parties, will continue.

As I have explained so many times THERE IS NO MIDDLE ~ it is, in fact, an impossible situation.

In a system with single member districts and first past the pole winner take all voting you end up with exactly TWO PARTIES every single time.

It takes 50%+1 vote to win. A winning coalition that can get that vote will pop into existence within 2 or 3 elections. A competing coalition that seeks to challenge the current winners will also pop up ~ made up of all the folks left out of the winning coalition.

There is no middle made up of people who have no social or political relationships whatsoever who will bother to vote.

We already know Romney is a loser with no backing from the Republican party rank and file; don't tell me he's totally ignorant of electoral theory ~ LBJ used this knowledge to wipe out Goldwater, and Barry is the guy who propounded the thesis first!

Nixon did it to the Democrats twice. As did Ronald Reagan, then Bill Clinton and then George Bush.

If the Romney crowd actually believe that "broad middle" nonsense their boy could go down for the worst loss in American history.

Romney hasn't clinched the nomination. He can drop out too.

We are not giving up, and if he's doing Reacharounds with Bloomberg the gun runner (caught red handed in Virginia breaking our laws), he shows a total inability to connect with Americans.
