Poll: Dead heat in Wisconsin recall election (Scott Walker fights for political life)
CBS News ^ | 05/02/2012 | Lucy Madison

Embattled Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is locked in a dead heat with Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett ahead of the state's June 5 recall election, according to a new poll from Marquette University Law School.

The poll shows Barrett leading Walker among registered voters by one percentage point, 47 percent to 46 percent. Among likely voters Walker bests Barrett 48 percent to 47 percent. Both leads are the within the margin of error.

Barrett will compete against former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk for the Democratic nomination next week. According to the Marquette poll, Barrett leads Falk in that contest 38 percent to 21 percent. Two other candidate are in the single digits.

Walker became embroiled in controversy last spring after passing a controversial law that would essentially eliminate public workers' collective bargaining rights. Debate over the legislation sparked weeks of protests in the state, as well as a national conversation about the merits of collective bargaining rights for public sector workers.

According to the Marquette survey, Democratic primary voters prioritized job creation -- not labor rights -- as the top consideration in choosing a nominee. Forty-six percent of Democratic primary voters ranked creating new jobs as their top consideration.

Twenty-five percent prioritized "defeating Scott Walker," and 14 percent said "reducing political divisions in the state." Twelve percent said "restoring collective bargaining rights for public employees" was their number one consideration.

How much do you want to bet that this poll oversampled Democrats?

What, if anything, is the RNC doing to try to help Walker?

So if Walker is beaten, can he then start the recall process on his end and do the whole thing over? Can WI keep p!ssing away taxpayer money with this garbage? I never new how much of a liberal cess-pool WI was before this mess.
I used to have respect for that state, now I see they are like Californians.

A poll of registered voters? What a crock. Let’s see a poll of likely voters.

Welcome to CBS shake ‘n bake. My guess would be this:

“I used to have respect for that state, now I see they are like Californians.”

Those of us IN Wisconsin love our state and we are proud of our Gov. Scott Walker. What is happening here is that this is ground zero for Obama / Soros / Union thugs to maintain the forced unionization and forced unsustainable amount of money being extracted from Wisconsin taxpayers through union contracts by these thugs.

We here in WI DID elect a governor in 2010 and both state houses for which we are proud. Remember the 14 Dem Senators who fled to Illinois to avoid the vote in 2011? The union money from across the nation (Rahm Emanuel was here for fundraiser), the SEIU national groups “training teachers” to effect a defeat of Walker in this recall. We are proud of our state, totally disgusted with the millions of tax dollars wasted on this @#%& recall and hope and pray with our hard work to keep Gov. Walker in office. We need and appreciate any monetary donations plus your prayers to help us.

Keep up the good fight, Wisconsin. Primary May 8, recall election June 5.

Any conservative Wisconsinite who does not vote for Scott Walker June 5 ought to turn in his nametag.

One Milwaukee industrial president told radio talk host Charlie Sykes that he has directed his staff to begin to look for business-friendly states if Walker gets recalled. There are many other businesses that would leave the state, or reduce their state workforce, if the Democrats win. After all, why would they want to pay a lot more taxes?

Since it's a big-business-friendly issue I would imagine a lot. After all, elections are "about the economy" and the almighty dollar now, not "wacko wingnut" issues like abortion and same-sex marriage, at least according to the GOP-E. Nevertheless I can guarantee you the Democrats won't be nominating any pro-life, anti-same-sex-marriage candidates any time soon though, so they haven't forgotten what elections are about.
