Barack Obama won Virginia by six points in 2008, and if he were up against his almost-certain 2012 opponent Mitt Romney today, he would win it again by a similar margin. If Romney hopes to close that gap, the states governor Bob McDonnell would not help, and there is no question that one potential running mate would hurt: Eric Cantor. The Constitution Party candidacy of the states former congressman Virgil Goode could also draw votes away from Romney, to Obamas advantage. Obama tops Romney by eight points, 51-43, up from a six-point (48-42) lead when PPP last polled the state last Demember. These results come among an electorate that reports voting for Obama by only four points over John McCain four years ago.

For what it’s worth, we agree, I’m just telling you the company line here.
IA, CO and NV and not close to VA. VA has a huge black population while IA, CO and NV have tiny black populations.
Well, this is what the GOP-e and its backers wanted.
Richmond is weird. If you drive down Broad St it looks bad but just a few blocks away gorgeous Late Victorian homes. Next time in Richmond you should drive down Monument Blvd.
Much of me agrees with that sentiment.
My abode, though, is behind enemy lines. Makes me useless in some ways, but perhaps very valuable in others...
And what message might that be? (checking calendar and weather)
Yeah, I’d like to see the R/D/I breakdown on that poll.
This poll will change...Virginia will not go for the moron twice in a row.
Oh so now you Romney fans are suggesting that God will judge us harshly for voting our informed conscience.
That’s a new one on the list of reasons to try to make non Romneys change their minds and feel badly.
As I said on another thread you, GtheV, have the right to vote for whom you wish. And so do I. Please stop trying to control me.
The GOP-E is responsible for this mess. And I won’t clean up after them by supporting their heir apparent: an underhanded, manipulative, unscrupulous and nasty candidate who does not embody ANY of the Conservative principles that I hold dear.
When I vote, I stand before God, my country and my family.
I will do so with my head held high and will be able to sleep the night of the election, knowing I did not compromise my core values and principles.
How you sleep that night is between you and your higher power.
Everything I've seen of Richmond I've seen from I-95 heading to or from the land of palm trees. There are many very nice parts of VA,no doubt, including nice parts of Richmond.
I live in fairfax va, know and have met countless number of people who voted for 0 in 2008 who won’t do it again. I don’t believe the poll.
The average respondent will not tell a pollster the truth.
“I will not vote for Barack Obama because he joined the Florida Black Panthers in declaring a race war against me”.
I took a look at the demographics. It seems that when Obama drops in the polls, they just increase the amount of dems they include in the polls. Here is the breakdown:
If you are a Democrat, press 1. If a Republican,
press 2. If you are an independent or identify
with another party, press 3.
Democrat ........................................................ 39%
Republican...................................................... 32%
Independent/Other.......................................... 29%

That explains it. Like driving on the NJ Turnpike in Northern NJ.hee hee
“At this point it looks unlikely that Romney will do as well as McCain.”
And this is likely as good as it will get for him. Everything that can be thrown at Obama has been - and deservedly so. Meanwhile, no rival has made serious and sustained attacks on Romney.
What are you talking about?? There are some lovely sights to be seen there. When the sun hits that oil tank farm in Tenafly *just* right.... ;-)
I am a big fan of the tower burning off the gas in the big refinery in Elizabeth. Reminds me of opening shot of Blade Runner, hee hee.
That's because they are still working on the final design of the sticker. Here is the likely finished product:
That looks about right.
