California Rep. Pete Stark, the 20-term South Bay Democratic Congressman, raised eyebrows in a public debate last month by accusing his primary challenger of misconduct — taking “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in bribes — without any evidence.
On Tuesday, he was at it again — but this time his target was columnist Debra J. Saunders, whom he wrongly accused during a Chronicle editorial board meeting of contributing to Democratic opponent Eric Swalwell’s campaign.
Stark was forced to publicly apologize to Swalwell last month after his unsubstantiated charges.
On Tuesday, he had to apologize again, after he said he had documentation proving Saunders – who writes the Chronicle’s “Token Conservative” blog” — donated to the Swalwell campaign.

He’s been saying stuff like this about Republicans for years, and they’re just noticing he’s crazy?
This is now becoming the standard ploy for the rats. Spew lies in the media, and then apologize, yet there can be tens to hundreds of thousands who only heard the deceitful accusations. The high bar for proving defamation needs to be significantly lowered in this country, even to the level of Great Britain.

I used to live in Stark's district and, by and large, the voters there aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. Stark's always been rattlesnake mean and batshit crazy.

Actually, it's "Fortnoy Stark-Raving-Mad."
One of the worst hacks and biggest embarrassments in congress. He's one of the worst opponents of 2nd Amendment rights, and his "scum-bagginess" knows no bounds. He's accosted other congressmen on the floor of the house, and was recorded (on an answering machine) by an active duty service member who lives in Stark's district when Stark cursed out the service member who dared to disagree with Stark.
