FORT LAUDERDALE — Feminists who fought for women's rights in the 1960s and '70s joined a new generation Saturday and said the fight continues.

Unite Against the War on Women, a grassroots group that has steadily gained momentum since its founding in February, has organized rallies nationwide — including one in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday — in defense of women's rights and in opposition to any legislation that would curtail those rights.

Two points:

1) Nothing like an organization created in the year of a presidential campaign that is carrying one of that campaign's talking points, and

2) Nowhere in the article is any count of crowd size given. That is a dead giveaway that it was miniscule.

Do they have anything to say about the rights of women in Muslim countries?

“Our rights, our health, our very existence is under attack,” said Meredith Ockman, president of the National Organization for Women's Palm Beach County chapter. The movement Saturday was non-partisan, she said.

A 'non-partisan', 'grassroots' organization being driven by NOW. Yeah, right. We've seen this kind of utterly bogus grassroots organization before.

Founded in February.....nice. Seems to me all the kerfuffle happened later in the year than that. And no pics of the hairy armpit brigade?? Did the camera break or was it even too small to fake a close-up crowd shot?

Maggie Davidson, president of the Democratic Women's Club of Northeast Broward, wondered, “Where do you start?”

Non-partisan my ass.

Ft. Lauderdale? Home of the spring break wet t-shirt contests?

I’m guessing (no photos, please) the participants in this event would not be win, place or show at any of the local bars.

Maggie Davidson, president of the Democratic Women’s Club of Northeast Broward, wondered, “Where do you start?” before naming issues such as abortion rights and contraceptive use that revolve around women’s “control of their bodies.”

Without that control, women fall back economically — further widening the existing pay disparity between the sexes, Davidson said.

Then why is it so many women are STILL poor, and STILL struggling, on welfare, in dire need of government assistance to this day? I thought once women “had rights” all of that would be over with.

Seems to me we’ve got even MORE povery and millions aborted, dead, and gone.

The “poorest” women among us are those who aborted their children and never married. With no one to love, no one to share their lives with ....how can one feel “rich” in this situation? Once the career is gone and the money runs out ...then what?

I don’t get it.

Why do women feel the need to extinguish their children just to get ahead?

I don’t feel that same need — in fact, I feel quite the opposite - having a marriage and children only enhances my overall “attractiveness” to employers.

So you made it to CEO — who cares. If you didn’t have kids or a family in your way, how can you truly crow about what a great accomplishment it is? It’s the ones who achieve it along WITH having families who truly had to face some hurdles, but were successful anyway!

Women are truly dopes for following this evil, nihilistic cult that tells them they CAN’T have it all unless they kill their kids. Really, how stupid is that?

They really ought to just come out and say what it is they’re seeking ...which is CONTROL and POWER, over life, and over God’s plan for their lives.

What I find hilarious is the logical leap when refusing to pay for something for someone else then becomes “denying them access”.

Fort Lauderdale has tried for years to separate the city's image from the Spring Break past. This event helped advance that attempt.

Funny how she asks, "Where do you start?", and then she "starts" and finishes with the only two items on the list.

You are absolutely right. It's ALL about power and control.

She is going to die an old, lonely, miserable woman. You've come a long way, baby!

Sad.

The day Sarah Palin was announced as McCain's running mate, a woman in front of me in line at a store got a cell phone call. She used a nasty word to describe Palin. I then saw this woman drive off with feminist bumper stickers on her car. I laughed.

I believe it.

Mrs. Eagle was a teacher...oops, excuse me.....an EDUCATOR....back in '08 and all but a couple of her fellow teachers were feminazis who used the most vile language when talking about Palin.

They used to call my wife "Churchy Girl" and would spew all kinds of Palin hatrd at her in a, you know, kidding way.

Mrs. E isn't even all that political and didn't know that much about Sarah Palin but that episode has led her on a journey that has made her more Conservative than myself.

My GF is a teacher as well and her views are in a small minority compared to her fellow “educators.” On that subject, I have mentioned this on FR, but I was in a McDonald's 2-3 years ago ($1 coffee was my attraction) and there was a group of young ones on a field trip. One asked his teacher/chaperon the difference between a Democrat and a Republican and the teacher said “Democrats are for everybody, Republicans only like certain types.” My immediate reply was to use a lib Dem (Cynthia McKinney or whoever) and say “She's a Republican? I always thought she was a Dem.” The teacher, of course, was flummoxed.

You have the Right to say no, and to keep your legs together.

You should NOT have the "right" to kill your mistakes.

It is all about abortion, although they can’t say so. A Democrat front organization with money from Soros and the abortion industry. With helful boosts from the pro-death media.

This is all part of Obama’s strategy to fire up key demographics. During the summer, Obama will be saying that Republicans want to round up all Hispanics and ship them to Mexico. He will say that Republicans want to bring back Jim Crow. He will say that Republicans will cut Social Security and Medicare completely. Zero will tell young people that Republicans want to get rid of financial aid and then send them to war with Iran. He will use class warfare as well.

Still, they need to be answered. In spades.

I heard they planned this showing in every state capitol.

How hard would it be for a few tea party women to do the same, in these capitol cities.

We need a few brigades Twittered up and sitting on “GO”? Especially when the oppositions numbers are low.

Strike early and often. :)
