A couple of days ago, Obama campaign top dog David Axelrod threw in the towel on the dog war.
"I thought it was a little absurd to talk about what the president had done as a 10-year-old boy," he sniffed to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell, which is as near as the suddenly sheepish attack dog will ever get to conceding that Barack Obama is the first dog-eating president in the history of the republic.
For those coming late to the feud, the Democrats started it, assiduously promoting accounts of a 1983 Romney vacation to Canada in which the family pooch Seamus rode on the roof of the car. Axelrod and the boys thought they could have some sport with this, and their poodles in the media eagerly played along. The New York columnist Gail Collins alone has referred to it dozens of times.
And then Jim Treacher, the sharp-eyed wag of the Daily Caller, uncovered this passage from Chapter Two of Obama's best-selling but apparently largely unread memoir "Dreams From My Father," in which the author recalls childhood meals with his stepfather Lolo Soetoro:
"I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share."
There followed an Internet storm of "I Ate A Dog (And I Liked It)" gags.

I have long wondered about this... It seems like the book has been read by more of Mr. Obama's critics than his groupies.
A friend recently sent me a retrieved webpage showing that one of the big online booksellers (I think it was Amazon.com) is now showing Bill Ayers as the author.
But Mr. Steyn says My Canadian compatriot Kate McMillan, a dog breeder, advised [the Rats] to "try this experiment sit a normal, American 6-year-old down at a plate and tell him it's dog meat. Watch what happens."
IMO most American voters are reacting to the Obama campaign as those children would react to being served dog meat.
The Rats (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party) is not Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Hubert Humphrey, Harry Truman -- I knew that Democratic Party. The Democratic Party was a friend of America.
The Rat Party is by design no friend of America. Its leaders are aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radicals (spoiled brats) and their bratty issue including the President.
They are stuck in an imaginary world of their campus youth. But they are far from harmless brats.. some are indeed psycho dangerous. All are egoists and ideologues with contempt for our tradition, dedicated to changing America to their benefit personally and ideologically.
Another four years of these crazies? If the professionals (military and LEO) do not act Lord help us.
". . . some key [events] exacerbated the national debate, fraying trust, and national cohesion just a little more each time . . . The two-party system that had governed America . . . begin to fall apart . . . interest in politics took the place of all other forms of news-related entertainment . . . politicians were the celebrities . . . [Politics/ideology] was becoming such a habit, the reactions so automatic, that [journalists] taking sides on every news story became inevitable." .. sound familiar? this is from for Love & Liberty by Robin Young and it's about 1857 America at the start of the administration of James Buchanan.
Obama wanted to be Lincoln and Roosevelt (with a taunting of Reagan to rock and roil the Ship of State).. So the second term Obama will be Buchanan?
“It seems like the book has been read by more of Mr. Obama’s critics than his groupies.”
Just like Mein Kampf. Everybody bought it, nobody read it.
Brilliant writing by Mark Steyn - and encouraging news, too.
The Dims are going to throw anything and everything at the Romney wall, hoping something will stick. And if, by chance, something does, prepare to hear about it 24/7 from the MSM.
Personally, I think Obama is toast. The economy stinks and he’s past the fail-safe point for things to turn around. He can’t run on his record and his notoriously thin skin will keep him from staying focused. I know many here fear Romney will be like McCain, afraid to criticize our Dear Leader, but I don’t think that’s the case. Romney has a bit of a mean streak in him. And to his credit he’s stayed focused on Obama’s poor record and economy. That’s how we’ll win.
Now I understand! Given White House policy of daily attacks upon makers by the takers; dines upon laughing hyena.
bump & a ping
Well, I'm not gonna go there on a family forum...
I think more were given away than were sold. An older woman I worked with in the '70s immigrated to the US from Austria as a teenager. She had an autographed copy of Mein Kampf that was personally handed out to the children in her school by Hitler.
Sorry, but sadly he is not yet toast.
Google Books lists Bill Ayers as author of Dreams from My Father
"Dreams from My Father" was in a list of books written by Ayers.

Steyn usually makes me laugh, but this one had me rolling on the floor.

Romney or his PAC's smeared with a vengeance both Gringrich and Santorum, he has the money, the means and the PAC's ability to run really negative ads and they worked for him, I hope they are gearing up for mean on Obama!!
