The rebellion you are seeing on this thread is not against you or your position on Mitt.
The rebellion is against those here who clothe themselves in your position and villify any freeper who sees a different path to saving the country.
The Mitt thing is just the most recent cause celebre for these folks. Before that it was Newt or Santorum or Cain or Bachmann or Palin (where it started). They hide in your shadow and attack those who they feel you would disagree with - sometimes in the vilest manner (accusations of NAMBLA membership, death wishes...). They ping their compadres and it becomes a relentless mugging.
These freepers seem to feel empowered as long as they can say - "The boss says this" or "This is Jim's site and he says...". They feel that their hand will not be slapped, regardless of how flagrantly and frequently they violate posting rules.
It is these freepers, not your opinions, that have driven good freepers away.
I pinged those who have agreed with me on this thread. They are all good, long-term freepers and there are a couple with whom I have never communicated before in 11 years here.
It would be a mis-reading if you were to take this as a personal affront. It is not. It is a revolt against those who act in your name, to the ultimate detriment of your site.

Ironically, I discovered wtc911 and I signed up for Free Republic on September 15, 2011. I have sent you, the mods, onyx others proof from this thread of statements that were worse than a statement I made fighting back against Silent_Johnny last May leading to my suspension. My first and only suspension in 10 years of posting.

Well, don’t feel like the Lone Ranger. I was persecuted daily for years for my personal support for Sarah Palin. Then they double downed on it when I chose to support Newt Gingrich.
Primaries are always bloodfests on FR. Probably always will be. People get passionate about politics.
In other words, you keep bumping up against conservative freepers that share the same conservative views as Jim Robinson does.
In my experience, looking at some of the anti-Palin, pro-Romney types reveals a posting history with Giuliani and Romney in the past, along with softly spoken pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, anti-Christian, even anti-gun political views, I can see how those types would feel that they are constantly under siege from all these freerepublic right-wingers, or as you say it "The rebellion is against those here who clothe themselves in your position and villify any freeper who sees a different path to saving the country."
But I think that it is just that most freepers are honestly and independently conservative and disagree with those liberals, not that they are 'clothing' themselves in JR's position just to be mean to a bunch of romneybots and mockingly hostile, social lefties.
