Rubio Praises U.N., World Bank, IMF for Not Asserting ‘Narrow American Interests’

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who was elected to his first term with help from the Tea Party in 2010 and who is sometimes cited as a potential GOP vice presidential pick, lauded the United Nations, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for following their respective visions instead of asserting “narrow American interests” in a speech today on U.S. foreign policy.

In remarks at the liberal Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., Rubio sketched the advances made globally since the end of World War II as a result of America’s leadership.

“The purpose of the institutions we established, from the United Nations to the World Bank and the IMF was to spread peace and prosperity, not to assert narrow American interests,” said Sen. Rubio.

[...]

In his initial remarks, Sen. Rubio sought to separate himself from some conservatives in the Senate on foreign policy, saying that until recently the general view was that American conservatism “believed in a robust and muscular foreign policy,” citing Presidents George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. talbott

“But when I arrived in the Senate last year, I found that some of the traditional sides in the foreign policy debate had shifted,” said Rubio. “On the one hand I found liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans working together to advocate our withdrawal from Afghanistan or staying out of Libya. On the other hand, I found myself partnering with Democrats … on a more forceful foreign policy.”

“So I recently joked, the other day, that today in the U.S. Senate, on foreign policy, the further you move to the right, the likelier you are to move to the left,” said Rubio.

Sorry buddy, but I know what your game is ~ you want to protect the four or five Southern RINOs left in the party. Won't work. We know who they are, and that's the original meaning of the term~

I notice none of you ever notice that Johnson and Paul are ALSO active, practicing members of the Libertarian Party ~

I notice that stuff ~ and in my book if you want to run for President as a Republican that's what you have to be all the time ~ a Republican ~ not a Libertarian, not a Democrat, not a Mexican immigration advocate, not a........ ~ and if you just gotta' put the leftwingtard stuff in there, do it, but the rest of it counts.

We ran a primary season with three Republican Conservatives and seven RINOS and the Republicans got blamed for "splitting the vote" ~ what about the Seven? Is there something in your eyes that prevents you from seeing the RINOS?

Reagan was elected President of SAG as a Democrat.

I'm not sure what your point about Michelle Bachmann was. Because she flirted with Dem. politics in college she's somehow tainted? How so?

No core values ~ just mouths speeches his handlers tell him will be popular.

Reagan never ran as a Democrat. His only foray into partisan politics was as a Republican.

He would not qualify as a RINO.

Huntsman, Johnson, Paul, Perry, Romney do ~

Flirting with Democrats as a campaign worker in college counts ~

SAG is not a government ~ I ran as a hardcore Conservative for my homeowners association board. I once ran for the church Board.

We are talking about GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS, not RELATIONSHIPS AND CANDIDATES.

I never liked Rubio or his speeches. Every time I hear him speak there is always way too much of a touchy-feely sentiment to it. That is the calling card of a liberal. He sounds like Obama. From Gingrich, Palin or West you can sense the spirit of a warrior. They are people who will never let their feelings trump their knowledge. The default setting of the human being is liberal. Being liberal means acting on your primitive feelings instead of tempering them with knowledge, wisdom, rationality and judgment.

Nods in agreement. Southeastern Georgia Tea Partier here. We work a lot with Florida Tea Parties all down the coast, and unfortunately, not very many of them have been pleased with Senator Rubio : \

I think we were all had with that one : |

May God guide our course out of this sorry mess.

“”Look at what happened to Col. West. His entire district was gerrymandered by establishment Republicans in Florida, and now he has to re-run for his seat as a newcomer. No doubt he’ll carry the new district, but he’s not toed the RINO line in DC, and he’s being “punished” for it.””

Same thing happened at the state level here. Fighting the RINOS takes up waay too much of our time and energy here. Unbelievable that they are that intent upon keeping their piece of Michelle’s pie : |

Give us strength Lord,

“Anyone who supports the UN, the Fed and the Dream Act, needs to be sent packing, IMO.”

A NWO Bilderberger or multi-national banker/corporate CEO are fully indoctrinated into the belief that some things like globalism are much more important than the USA and our sovereignty.

The corporate media is part of the same ruse. Too bad it will be too late before most clueless Americans wake up that it is the USA that is most important and most at risk, because of the corrupt political Party hacks who will do and say anything to help their cronies get rich and to get reelected.
