EPA Official's 'Philosophy' On Oil Companies: 'Crucify Them'
CNS News ^ | 4/25/12 | Craig Bannister

Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) took to the Senate floor today to draw attention to a video of a top EPA official saying the EPA’s “philosophy” is to “crucify” and “make examples” of oil and gas companies - just as the Romans crucified random citizens in areas they conquered to ensure obedience.

Inhofe quoted a little-watched video from 2010 of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) official, Region VI Administrator Al Armendariz, admitting that EPA’s “general philosophy” is to “crucify” and “make examples” of oil and gas companies.

In the video, Administrator Armendariz says:

“I was in a meeting once and I gave an analogy to my staff about my philosophy of enforcement, and I think it was probably a little crude and maybe not appropriate for the meeting, but I’ll go ahead and tell you what I said:

“It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean. They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them.

“Then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.”

Funny, he looks like a p***y but sounds like a jackbooted thug.

That's a fairly common phenomenon among Fascist functionaries. Look at pictures of Goebbels and Himmler for reference.

I saw this posted yesterday. I refrained from discussing it then. But I am not QUITE as outraged as most of us here. His words were horribly chosen, but he does specify that the so-called cruxification will be of those who are egregious in their lawbreaking.

Now, is most of what the EPA policing, stuff that shouldn't be illegal? But of course, and that is a discussion for a different thread.

However, once a set of bad laws are written, how they are enforced will always be distasteful.

He actually exposes a severe weakness, as well: ONCE THE SO-CALLED CRUXIFICTIONS HAVE OCCURED, YOU ARE FREE TO VIOLATE THE LAW. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE MANPOWER TO NAIL EVERYONE.

I would think union members who work for oil and gas companies as well as oil pipeline contractors and coal miners should have second thoughts when their union bosses tell them to vote for Obama.

I would think anyone who tells members of those unions to vote for Obama should be voted out, too!

BATON ROUGE, La. —

Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association today released findings of a study conducted by Dr. Loren Scott on the impact of the extraction, refining and pipeline industries in Louisiana. Dr. Scott found the three industries cumulatively supported 310,217 jobs in the state, generated over $16.1 billion in household earnings for Louisianans, and supported $77.3 billion in sales by Louisiana firms in 2009.

Al Armendariz. Regional Administrator, US EPA Region 6 will be in Lafayette today attending the 2012 Environmental Conference.

I hope his visit isn’t pleasant.

Thanks for posting this....amazing that these commnts were made in 2010 and we’re just hearing about it. imho, even worse than using the word ‘crucify’ is his comment about ‘make examples of people’. This is what they do in Iran...hanging man who converted to Christianity...and in China. Make examples of some people in order to frighten others into submission. This guy wants to ‘crucify’ oil companies...can’t crucify a ‘company’ so does he want to crucify the CEO? Who’s next? If you refuse to buy a ‘green’ car, do you go to jail? If you use too much electricity, is your power cut off..or do you go to jail?

This is a hint of the mentality of the people currently in power. I know it will be fruitless but, I will call my Senators, Reps and the WH.

It is time to ‘crucify’ and bury EPA for ever.

Coordinator: Crucifixion?
Prisoner: Yes.
Coordinator: Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.
[Next prisoner]
Coordinator: Crucifixion?
Mr. Cheeky: Er, no, freedom actually.
Coordinator: What?
Mr. Cheeky: Yeah, they said I hadn't done anything and I could go and live on an island somewhere.
Coordinator: Oh I say, that's very nice. Well, off you go then.
Mr. Cheeky: No, I'm just pulling your leg, it's crucifixion really.
Coordinator: [laughing] Oh yes, very good. Well...
Mr. Cheeky: Yes I know, out of the door, one cross each, line on the left.
