A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now its attracting barbs from farm kids themselves.
The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families land.
Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.
Prohibited places of employment, a Department press release read, would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.
The new regulations,(first proposed) August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the governments approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.
Rossie Blinson, a 21-year-old college student from Buis Creek, N.C., told The Daily Caller that the federal governments plan will do far more harm than good.
The main concern I have is that it would prevent kids from doing 4-H and FFA projects if theyre not at their parents house, said Blinson.
Yes, either that, or they just want to put the rest of the family farmers out of business permanently, and damage our economy in the process. Whatever their goal is, these negative consequences are not unintentional, the commie bastards know exactly what they are doing.
Yeah, that’ll help bring food prices down....
America has no room for her kind. Ship her out. Purge her.
What about having kids running around as community organizers.
We saw this in “1984” - family relationships were banned. Your loyalty is to only be to the state. A very Satanic state of affairs, that.
Family farms are the epitome of what the left hates - strong families, strong character, work ethic, and independence.
This is the very same federal government that is telling the Supreme Court today that States cannot assist the federal government in the enforcement of illegal alien laws.
I”D suggest its time to crank up the dozers and start prepping the slit trenches. They’re coming for you if you live on a farm.
Yes, it can be voted down. We have to vote Obama out of office (even if that means voting Romney into office). We have to vote to turn control of the Senate over to someone better than Harry Reid (yes, even Mitch McConnell would be much better). We need to vote to keep Republicans in charge of the House (yes, even if Boehner is Speaker). Many conservatives seem to forget that there are worse things in life than RINOs.
And we also could be looking at filling a spot on the Supreme Court
“Look for the metrosexual queens to try to modify the focus and compass of 4-H in the coming years.”
It’s already happening, lots of USDA cash that was for 4H is going for “harm reduction” and “youth at risk” programs.

You need non-hybrid seeds.
I envision a farmers march on D.C. complete with tractors, rakes, hoes and other farm equipment.
As President Jefferson Davis so prophetically said just prior to the War Between the States: “We just want to be left alone.”
Furthermore, I can’t even imagine the good Amish farmers paying any attention to this edict.
I am waiting for the day when a brave County Sheriff comes out and says, "The federal government has overstepped its bounds and is acting in an un-Constitutional manner. Agents from Such-And-Such federal agency will be arrested and escorted out of my county if they attempt to enforce Such-And-Such law."
My husband’s first job in high school was recording weights of trucks freshly loaded with hay cubes, for the family agricultural trucking business. That would not be permitted any more, I guess.
Be careful what you say, the anti-Romney bots will come out of the wood work and pillory you for speaking such heresy on FR. They are everywhere and they are the guardians of all that is conservative; even if it means letting obama and his czars remain in control.
