Are some people really this politically naive, or is the pain of accepting the obvious just too much yet to accept?

Yes they are...naive that is. When I read that someone thinks that 27% is "quite good" at this point in the game, well...what can you say about that? When you are losing to someone who isn't in the race...and you are losing by 30 points when you spend weeks in a place...

THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT IT. WISE UP.

And who did actually wind up winning Iowa?

Last I heard Santorum won the popular vote and Paul might have ended up with the most delegates. It's irrelevant now anyway, and certainly doesn't have anything to do with Delaware. Delaware is winner take all and the race wasn't even close like it was in Iowa.

I was nowhere near a television at 9:20 (or for the last 10 years) so an update is appropriate. And after the BS the GOP pulled in Virginia, Florida, and Iowa, I just don't have much trust.

But however they manage it, I still will not vote for Romney. There will be a conservative on the ticket.

Your head is going to explode if Romney does manage to get the nomination, and lots of conservatives still won't vote for him.

That's very sad and you crow about it.

I voted today. Out of a population of 7,500, my poling place, one of 2, had 46 votes at 5 pm. There was ONE article in the paper yesterday that the primary was today. It was a well hidden event.

46 people. If you're thinking that there is a groundswell for Romney, there isn't.

Romney is a bad candidate but unfortunately Newt is worse. Newt managed to capture 4th place in a state where only 3 candidates are currently running. Nobody’s fault but his....

Romney can barely muster over half of Republicans when the competition is non-existent.

Pathetic.

(sigh)

You're wrong. The RNC is pushing Romney. They have been since last year. So is the MSM. It's "his turn" don't ya know. They hate Gingrich.

As I said, the fact that there was a primary today was a little more than a whisper. Tell me why you aren't disgusted. 46 people.

What’s worse is that’s up in Mitt’s back yard where you would expect his support to be the strongest. The only people enthusiastically supporting Mittens is his family, Fox News, probably the people working for him, and 0bama.....

Yup. If he’s the nominee, we’re toast.

Cain was looking great, and the media(with help from 0bama and the other republicans I’m sure) promptly ‘took him out’. Then Perry looked to be ‘the man’, but turns out that he couldn’t talk in front of a camera. Bachmann looked alright for awhile, but she Kamikaze’d herself over that vaccine nonsense. Gingrich looked ok for a few weeks, until he went off the tracks, attacking others with Liberal democrat talking points. Santorum wouldn’t have won the general anyway. That leaves us with Mittens, the Massachusetts LIBERAL on the threshold of being the nominee. What a sad state of affairs....God help us!!!

Very good synopsis. Yes, it is very frustrating that republicans apparently have so little vision for how great an opportunity we had to save the country. Now, we can only hope Romney will have some sort of epiphany and embark on a mission to get government back in its proper place and role.

Let me be clear, 46 people voted. If you think they'll be more enthusiastic in November and vote in droves, you're dreaming.

You know, I have to enjoy the idiocy of Americans that are watching this election as if it is “actually an election”!

Mercy, here we are, Americans failing to be able to pay the bills, unable to understand what the heck is going on, and struggling to get along. No problem, we have the elective class (our wonderful politicians) that continue to provide us with platitudes (no fixes) and we just eat it up.

Our Government is absolutely dysfunctional and we still seem to cheer them on - by party! We are lost - unfortunately, and it will be because of government - which means us! Internal destruction by any means.

Same day would guarantee an unknown, untested, unvetted candidate chosen only by name recognition and bankroll.

Do you think 0 bummer would have ever been the (d) candidate if there would have been same day primaries in 2008?? Mr "I've campaigned in all 57 states but may have one or two more to go" and "give them a breathalyzer for asthma".... Most people had never even heard his name, and look what the dumb electorate did last presidential election. Makes me want to puke like I did the day after.

This is supposedly Newt’s firewall (another one) to determine if he stays in or resigns.

What should he do?

Doesn’t matter what he does now. Wish he had quit after his broad-based clobbering in FL that may very well have paved the way for Santorum to defeat Romney.
