MACON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Georgia say a grandmother foiled a robbery attempt by two armed men by getting into a shootout with them, injuring one man.
Police told The Telegraph (http://bit.ly/IbEZXT) that Lulu Campbell just dropped off her grandson at her daughter's house early Saturday morning when someone demanded money outside her car, threatening to shoot her.

“there is no [attempted murder] charge in Georgia”
Are you being sarcastic?
I was too flippant in my prior post to you. For that I apologize.
IIRC there is a charge of attempted murder in GA but the charge of aggravated assault is easier to prove and has a stiffer penalty.
Not really. You see these “why not attempted murder?” comments on lots of boards whenever something like this happens in Georgia, but aggravated assault is the charge that’s always used in Georgia in these kinds of cases. The way it’s defined in Georgia law reads pretty much like what you’d expect attempted murder to be, and you can get 20 years here if convicted, so it’s not a minor charge.
It is possible to charge someone with attempted murder here, but as a practical matter it’s not done because it’s a much tougher case for the prosecution and doesn’t provide any benefit since aggravated assault is already such a serious crime here.
lol
Campbell said she couldnt find it, got out and checked the trucks backseat to look for it in her purse. As she searched, she said she heard a voice in her head whisper to her to get into the front seat and lock the door. She immediately did, and she said that likely saved her life.
