Man Beaten By Mob, In Critical Condition (one of them said "Now thats justice for Trayvon.")

MOBILE, Alabama -- Mobile police need your help to catch a mob that beat Matthew Owens so badly that he's in critical condition.

According to police, Owens fussed at some kids playing basketball in the middle of Delmar Drive about 8:30 Saturday night. They say the kids left and a group of adults returned, armed with everything but the kitchen sink.

Police tell News 5 the suspects used chairs, pipes and paint cans to beat Owens.

Owens' sister, Ashley Parker, saw the attack. "It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed." Parker says 20 people, all African American, attacked her brother on the front porch of his home, using "brass buckles, paint cans and anything they could get their hands on."

Police will only say "multiple people" are involved.

What Parker says happened next could make the fallout from the brutal beating even worse. As the attackers walked away, leaving Owen bleeding on the ground, Parker says one of them said "Now thats justice for Trayvon."

Could you please clarify that part of your statement.

I haven't seen people here pushing Romney. It appears most if not all are hoping for a Newt resurgence or a Brokered Convention as am I.

In lieu of that happening, with the likelihood of Romney capturing the Republican Nomination, the Board seems to be split on Voting Romney over Obama in the General or sitting out the Election and handing reelection to Obama on a silver platter.

Third Party, Write Ins or a Non Vote for President will prove to be an empty gesture should it come to that. I fear for the down Ballot Republicans should people choose to sit out the Election because of Romney ending up as the Republican Nominee. We could well lose the House and certainly lose any chance of retaking the Senate.

An emboldened Obama with both the House and Senate in his control and not having to worry about reelection would mean the end of anything resembling the Country of our youth.

I will bet you a dollar to a donut that NOT ONE FReeper has Voted for Romney in a 2012 Republican Primary, and none will do so in the remaining Primaries.

I think the Romneybot, Romneyite or whatever disparaging description of other FReepers is a bit presumptuous. People here loathe Obama and are facing the possibility of not having their particular Candidate receive the Nomination.

The choice will be made by each individual FReeper when they are staring at their Ballot in November. This ridiculous animosity is accomplishing nothing when we still have a long way to go before we get to Tampa.

You speak the truth. I love Mobile. It is my home. But we moved several yrs ago across the MS line and one reason was the increase in crime. Makes me ill to see what that beautiful city is turning into.

No, my mileage is pretty much the same. Five years ago if someone had told me race relations were terrible in this country I would have laughed in their face. I saw blacks and whites getting together on every level from friendships to businesses to marriage. Now it's worse than it was in thirty or forty years.

Sadly I agree with the poster upthread who said the only rational thing to do is quietly avoid contact with blacks where ever and whenever possible. No hatred just survival.
