Police say a man attacked a 65-year-old woman with a knife and ripped the earrings from her body.
Police are investigating the robbery and attack of a woman who they say tried to help a person who she believed to be the victim of a car accident.
It happened Saturday at 9:45 p.m. in Galloway Township. Police say as a 65-year-old woman drove home from the Atlantic City casinos, two vehicles began to follow her on Old Port Republic Road.
The woman told police one of the vehicles passed her and appeared to race up the road in front of her. Seconds later she found what appeared to be the same vehicle sideways across the road in front of her car, forcing her to stop, according to investigators.
The woman claims she saw a person slumped over the wheel. Police say she rolled her window down to ask if the person needed help. Suddenly, police say, the driver of the second vehicle that remained behind her approached her with a stocking covering his face and a knife in his hand. The suspect allegedly demanded money and jewelry. Police say the suspect cut the woman on her arm and ripped her earrings from her body. Both vehicles then fled South on Old Port Republic Road back towards US Route 9.
I would think that someone was definitely watching her to find out exactly what she had, her route home, things like that. Doesnt seem to be a random act, said Lt. Chris Doyle, Galloway Township Police.
Police have not released a description of the suspects or vehicles that they used. If you have any information on this incident, please call the Galloway Township Police Department at 609-652-3705.
In the 1980s, in Los Angeles in the wee hours, I was nearly the victim of a two vehicle ploy. Two vans came down an on-ramp together. One came over to the fast lane and took up a position in front of me, while the other kept the same pace, but two lanes over. Suddenly, the van in front of me hit the brakes and stopped. My gut instinct was that if these people wanted me to stop I had better do the opposite. I gunned the engine and drove between the two vans and got away.
I think they wanted me to rear-end the van in front of me so they would be able to sue me and/or collect insurance money, and the second vehicle was there to be a witness.
I guess the poor lady in this article was the victim of a more violent variant of the two-vehicle ambush.
From John Derbyshire’s “The Talk”:
“(10h) Do not act the Good Samaritan to blacks in apparent distress, e.g., on the highway.”
Yep, that could work for sure.
Yep. Mitch Werbell and that bunch made them in GA I believe. “Crude but effective.” The SMG that works equally well as a hammer. As they used to say, “Perfect for a shootout in a phone booth.”
I’ve heard of that scam using one vehicle in front, that slams on its brakes and causes a rear-ender. Then they all claim whiplash, and they just happen to have their lawyer’s card handy. But that takes only one vehicle, getting in front. I think your two vehicle ploy had a more evil intention. Kidnapping, etc.
That was the one that everybody really called Derb out over. But he had a point. He had a point.
On a similar note, home invaders often use a female (gang member) to convince a home owner to open the door. The male gang members are waiting aroung the corner. So I would expect to see females used in fake accidents as well, for more “harmless” bait effect.
I seldom find time to read but I just finished reading your book EFAD.
It’s great!
Kindle version, or paper version?
I read it on my wife’s Kindle.
One of my favorite parts was the botched FIST checkpoint.
The whole series of events in that cluster f—— had me LMAO!
You may be right.
I guess my Guardian Angel was working overtime.

Correct. Our receptionist 22 years ago was from Powder Springs, babysat Mitch’s grandkids when she was a teenager.
Nice tie-in to recent events. Good catch.
Did you catch any bothersome format glitches, missing paragraph indents, typos, things like that?
I believe I came across a couple of minor typos. Wasn’t really bothersome.
Great book. I’m definitely going to recommend it to some friends.
If you can remember where any of them were, I always appreciate the chance to fix the kindle master document.
Stuff like this has been going on in Oregon for years. Popular MO is to come up behind a car at a stop sign or light. Bump the car in front, when the person, usually a woman alone, gets out to see if there is damage, rob or rape or both. The bad guys even got so bold as to make their cars look like state patrol cruisers. Of course, since Oregon passed concealed carry laws, these things have died down some.
Go ahead and add me to the list as well.
These desperados are searching for new ways to rob, taking advantage of elderly is nothing new, especially after gambling at a casino.
Hurry up and finish your next book!
I can imagine a passerby approaching their trap, and it turns out to be a converted Escalade with a Dillon mini gun coming up out of the roof.
Myself I could fabricate a pepper gas dispenser to the outside drivers mirror with a safety switch on the inside armrest. Or adding a cattle shocker to the door handle.
