The amazing thing is that California had productive industry, educated labor and abundance of natural resources. Things that Greece has very little of.
To: TurboZamboni
California certainly WAS one of
God's best moments and one of the
best places in the world to live--from its very beginning through the 19th century (witness Richard Henry Dana's
Two Years before the Mast,) and through much of the 20th century--until the forces of decadence rotted the civilization of its inhabitants.
Today the once Golden State decays, its ancient beauty and promises mocked by the absurdities and self-destruction of the ancient enemy of all civilizations.
Spring forever keeps its ancient promise, but only to follow the darkness and severity of winter, cold consolation for those who concern themselves with the foreseeable future.

I got a reprieve from there just over 20 years ago. Transferred by job to Ft Worth. Never looked back except to visit.
It is a beautiful state, no doubt. Unfortunately, a leopard is a pretty cat too but get to close and it is all over for you.

Look, the politics here are liberal and terrible.
But do note, as you all complain of how horrible Californians are and how you don’t want us ruining your state, that there are MORE solid conservatives here than in your state. CA started Free Republic and CA donates more than most states. There are great people here too.

It's those who have seen the future who prepare for it.

Don’t send them to the Midwest. Winters are cold here, and we all talk like they do in “Fargo”.

39 years ago when I lived in Pagosa Springs, the most popular bumper stickers were VIOLET’S ARMY! (A support for the King Coal mine) and DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO! Well, they have.
I’ve noticed that every place that is beautiful in the mountains, the wierdos have taken over because of lib outsiders taking over the city councils.

Lots of solid conservatives without balls compared to the majority of liberals that have balls. Complacency (”I’m doing OK”) is our downfall. No organization to rid the cancer of liberalism and fraud.
Enjoyed the conversation...have a 10AM tee time. Gotta go.

the mass exodus from the state is offset by the hordes of illegal alien invaders from mexico. They bring nothing at all to offer other than the illegal votes necessary to keep the entrenched in power thus allowing the continued destruction of the state.

I predict CA will start printing its own fiat currency in violation of the USC. THey will skirt the issue by calling them state “vouchers” for service.

I never said Californians are terrible.
I have friends there.(I’m in MN) I know that. Met nice folks there on vacation last month in Sonoma County.
Being from MN, I know our reputation isn’t for attracting the best and brightest either. In fact, when CA leftard legislators think up a dumb law, we’re usually the next state to try to replicate it.

It is still a great place to live. It is the big metroplexes that are bad everywhere. The central valley is mostly conservative and still a great palce to raise your kids. Let everyone leave and keep reducing the population and let all the illegals and any growth continue in the welfare run metroplexes becasue they will implode first just as many SOCAL cities are already going bankrupt.

I think a good description of California as having a “Dust Bowl government”.
It makes sense: from Sacramento, never ending torrents of hot air that destroys crops and blows the fertile soil out of state, leaving behind nothing but misery and deprivation.
So now there are “Grapes of Wrath”-like refugees fleeing the place to seek their fortunes elsewhere.

Here in northern Idaho, it usually takes only one real winter. Then the for sale signs pop up in the Spring. Theyll leave before the places sell. I've seen that effect in Texas, too. A lot of Californians, especially the squishy liberal types, can't handle the brutal Texas summers. Even with ice cold air conditioning, there's no complete escape from the 24/7 oven temps out here.
