Barrett and Falk debate electability against Scott Walker
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ^ | 4/19/12 | Craig Gilbert

When Gov. Scott Walker went up with an ad last week attacking Tom Barrett, he was looking to weaken a potential June opponent.

But Barrett used it as a badge of honor, because it seemed to bolster one of his main arguments to Democratic voters in the May 8 primary -- that he’s the opponent Walker takes most seriously.

“I think it’s a bit of a back-handed compliment from the Republicans,” said Barrett spokesman Phil Walzak, who said the Walker ad shows “they’re clearly more concerned about facing Tom Barrett in the general election than any other candidate.”

Is Tom Barrett more electable against Walker than Democratic rival Kathleen Falk?

If you took a poll of political insiders in both parties, the prevailing answer would be yes. When I put that question to a half-dozen GOP strategists in Wisconsin in recent days, they all independently said they considered Falk easier to beat. They also said that was the overwhelming view within the GOP, partly because Republicans think her close ties to public employee unions is a liability.

“They’re certainly entitled to that opinion,” says Falk spokesman Scot Ross, “but when it comes to who matches up best against Scott Walker, it’s Kathleen Falk.”

Prediction: Governor Scott Walker wins handily over both Democrat candidates. Wisconsin also goes GOP in November from POTUS on down!!! Democrats suffer a political beating they never dreamed could happen in Wisconsin. Cause: Failed POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama and his greedy public service unions!!!

What’s interesting about this race is that the conventional wisdom seems to suggest that Barrett is more “electable” than Falk.

It seems though that the union apparatus is spending $$$ galore on Falk-to the point where the primary can prove divisive and help Walker.

AFAIK, Walker leads them both by single digits although Barrett makes it a bit closer.

So you have Barrett, the Milwaukee mayor who lost already to Walker but used the tools provided by Walker’s Act 10 to help Milwaukee’s lousy financial situation, and you have Falk, who also is a loser in elections but pledged to not sign a state budget if it did not include a return to collective bargaining for the unions. Barret using Walker’s changes. Falk kissing union rear-ends at the expense of the taxpayer. It’s a no-brainer. Walker beats ‘em both.

Two Observations from your statement:

#1. The Unions have spent a gazillion dollars ever since this whole fiasco started. That’s good. That means that they will NOT have that money to spend helping Obozo in his attempt to win reelection in the Fall.

#2. I’m hoping the Primary is more than just “divisive”. I hope and pray that the loser of the Primary and his/her backers will be SORE losers and not support the other candidate but will stay home and lick their wounds helping Walker win.

I feel good about Walker winning this thing.

I do too. Let them waste their money on a failed recall. Not only gives us the momentum going into Nov., but also a nationally publicized unionfail!
