Sex workers in Amsterdam will have a hard time finding work if two New Zealand academics' vision of the future comes true.
"In 2050, Amsterdam's red light district will all be about android prostitutes who are clean of sexual transmitted infections, not smuggled in from Eastern Europe and forced into slavery, the city council will have direct control over android sex workers controlling prices, hours of operations and sexual services," write futurologist Ian Yeoman and sexologist Michelle Mars.
The duo's paper, Robots, Men And Sex Tourism, published in the journal Futures, centres on an imaginary future sex club in Amsterdam called Yub-Yum.
It posits that sex tourists will dish out big cash for all-inclusive robot sex romps.
This will be a big win for Amsterdam, they say, as the city will keep drawing huge swaths of randy tourists willing to empty their pockets, but avoid all the downsides, like drugs, violence and underage exploitation.
The sex-bots will even be made from bacteria resistant fibre, the Victoria University of Wellington academics predict.

The topic of sex-androids has gotten a lot of, er, play in SF over the years.
Does anyone remember “Westworld?”
Or Darryl Hannah, who played Priss, “a standard pleasure model” in Blade Runner?

Sex Robots or “Gynoids” will only be mainstream once they can be programmed to do housekeeping shores around the house.
Then a wife will never have to claim “I have a headache” or “I don’t want to do dishes” the robot maid who is also a sex robot will take care of it all for her.
Of course then the wife will demand that she has a “Male Sexbot” to service her and perform the chores around the house that the man was supposed to do like cleaning the gutters or mowing the lawn. This will lead to having two robots in the house.
So then you will have a husband and wife essentially cheating in the open on each other using robots... Of course what happens when the two robots have fulfilled the roles of the humans that they were meant to replace? Why keep the humans around, both the robots can have sex with each other over wi-fi (as it can be “virtualized”) and will not need humans at all to take care of the house.
So the humans will then get kicked out of the house and you will have two horny robots banging each other over wi-fi billions of times a day while they are doing all the housekeeping....
Progress indeed....

Also, if you send you sex robot down to the local bazaar for a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread and it gets raped does a play back of it’s computer memory equal the same weight in court as having six witnesses to a rape or does it count the same as a biological women which would mean you couldn’t sue the robo rapists for property damage...
Would a sex robot in the middle east have more value as property than women because women in the middle east are as valued as dirt and the sex robot would be more expensive?
I am half curious to “ask an imam” about this....

All I know is that China had better get cracking on this because there is going to be a lot of young men without women in that country and they will need women folk, be they biological or android. If they don’t the Chinese are going to become a powder keg in the next 20 to 40 years as their men get desperate.

Would wives buy robots that looked like them for their husbands and just let them have a go at the robot when they had a “headache”? Would in-the-closet homosexuals get caught using their wive’s robots? Would it be legal for pedophiles to get robots that looked like little kids?
This would open the door to a lot of weirdness, that is for sure, which is saying a lot, considering how weird the world is already!
