President Barack Obama's campaign on Wednesday launched an aggressive national effort to energize and rally Latino voters who could help him carry key states like Colorado, Florida or Nevada and hand him a second term.
"This election is an opportunity for the Latino community in this country to send a message" by helping "someone who stands on our side," Democratic Senator Robert Menendez told reporters on a conference call to unveil "Latinos for Obama."
"It's no secret that Latinos will be a deciding factor in this election," Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said on the same call.
The campaign also launched Spanish-language television ads in Colorado, Florida, and Nevada that star Obama supporters touting the president's commitment to financial aid for students, his landmark health care overhaul, and his personal story.
"The personal story of President Obama is a story of hard work, of struggle," organizer Lynette Acosta says in one of the ads.

Maybe Zimmerman will make a campaign ad
Let me guess: this poster child for this push for the Latino vote is a guy by the name of Zimmerman.
Beat me by || that much.

How can Obama be a candidate for president if he is going to run ads in Spanish?
That alone should disqualify him as we speak English in America!
So, work that backwards, Obama gets the nomination because there was no competition allowed in the Democrat primaries this year (as is normal because the President is a Democrat and it's assumed they want to run him again no matter how bad he is ~ foolish people eh).
So, assume that's a good substitute for winning your "base" what happened to the Hispanic faction?
Really, why do Obama and his running dog lackeys think they have to go out and peel the Hispanics away from the Republican standard?
Did something happen the pollsters haven't told us about?
2012 will be a Latino intelligence test.
I read that the commie ‘RATS are sending a voter fraud commando team here to Arizona to register illegal aliens and dumbass “college” kids who don’t pay taxes. Not good news for those of us who live here.
0bama will probably get the coveted endorsement of Chapo Guzman and the Sinaloa Cartel.
In 1979-1980 my college roommate was a Nuclear Engineering major with the highest ACADEMIC scholarship awarded by Texas A & M. He was a brilliant guy, and a diligent worker, and an exceptional roommate. He was also the son of a Mexican immigrant.
When Ronald Reagan came to speak on our campus that year, I was astonished to discover that he had decided to vote for Carter. I couldnt fathom why a man of his ability and achievement would vote for such a loser.
He explained simply that, Everyone knows the Democrats are for minorities. It still hurts my head thirty years later that this was his entire selection criteria. I guess you have to learn how not to think like a serf? Or maybe liberty wells up from inside the man, the product of mans relationship with the Almighty?
In any event, this has been a problem for quite some time, and the Dims rightly anticipate receiving the minority vote regardless of performance or logic. Good thing the orientals have too much self respect to fall for this.
I believe with a little effort, we could make a large dent in the percentages.
I’m thinking Hispanics got the message loud and clear when Obama said Trayvon looked like his son, not the Hispanic Zimmerman.
Bet he doesn’t get the support of the Taco Bell Chihuahua.
If this makes any headway, look for Rubio to be named as Romney’s Veep.
FYI, I hope that Romney stays away from Rubio - not because I don’t like Rubio (I do, and he’s obviously far more conservative than Romney), but because Rubio is as ineligible to be POTUS as the current occupant (both having at least one parent who was not a citizen at the time of their birth).
Why not? He’s already got the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah and Hamas backing him.
Marco Rubio
Obama’s personal story is one of hard work and struggle? LOL!
