Waiting on line at post office, corrupt NYPD cop (vanity)

Waited on line at post office to mail ira deposit today. Line was about 40 people long because of taxes. A NYPD cop just skips the line and walks to the counter. As he was walking back I said, "corrupt cop". He said "he's busy". Like none of the private sector people aren't busy. Then as people started questioning him, saying "aren't we busy too" he said I know, "you pay my salary" and laughed.

I don't have a problem with this.
People have the police force that they deserve.

When you finally got back outside, had he shot your dog?
That's usually what happens.

The arrogance of a unionized government employee. However, there are NYPD cops who die in the line of duty and others who literally save the lives of otherwise helpless civilians. If this cop belongs in that category (and I know that not all do) then cutting in line at the Post Office might be a price worth paying.

Well I don't think that would make me mad actually and can you really call him corrupt because he cut in line. Be thankful he didn't shoot you (just kidding). I just remember my dad saying to me “Don't sweat the small stuff” In light of all the crap that our government is shoving down out throats seems like this is small although it may be irritating.

"As he was walking back I said.." Good work speaking up. Next try it before the act. "Hey you! Get out of my face!" is better than "Ouch! That hurt, you meanie!"

I grew up in small towns and we always had good cops.
In my hometown our local cop often imposed his own community service on us delinquent teenagers. Painting the bleachers at the softball diamond or mowing grass around town were pretty fair punishments for being caught underage drinking.

I’d rather he get in and get out.

If you put up with the little stuff, then they push the big stuff. Sorta like the GOP-e is doing with Romney.
I believe the time to speak is in the first instance.

And if the cop had waited in line, everybody would have been bitching about how crime was happening while he was wasting his time in said line.
We use to select one member of our squid to stand in line for all and would contribute to his/her next meal. Worked great.

He’s not supposed to be conducting personal business on duty anyway.

It makes life so much more pleasant. Our little post office is the local gossip shop where was all hang out and talk local news. I like it, its like Petticoat Junction.

I agree with you. Some “hero” shoots a basketball through a few hoops and earns millions of dollars. Police Officers put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect the public. . .Personally, I think their pay is extremely low for what they do.

My returns were filed electronically a week ago but the last time I was the post office was a week ago right after 4 pm where it really builds up the line. That’s my fault for being there at that time. But no worries...karma’s a bitch. What comes around, goes around for this donut eater.
