R.C. Hammond, a spokesman for the Gingrich campaign...brushed off a question about whether renting the list diluted its value or signaled an end to the campaign.
No, it demonstrates the campaign is pursuing new sources of revenue, he said. Gingrich has loaned the campaign thousands, primarily toward travel and lodging expenses, Hammond said, but he added the campaign intends to reimburse the loans.

And the campaign intends to repay "the loans." Which loans? The loans Newt made with his own cash? So is he staying in merely to get enough further contributions to pay himself back?
(Had to post from Politico because USA Today is blocked on FR.)
Ouch. If this is true, what was he thinking?
” So is he staying in merely to get enough further contributions to pay himself back? “
That’s about it in a nutshell.
Campaign donors are public information. See the FEC website. Nobody is going to pay too much for information already available for free.
Email addressess would have definite value to other fundraisers.
So who did he rent the list to?
To anyone who can give him the scratch. Gingrich supporters should get used to a lot of timeshare brochures in the next couple of months.
He could have a contest where the winner predicts State No. 3 for Newt to win. No one would win the contest, and he could pocket all the proceeds.
So if you're a Newt donor, your name is worth about .14 cents. And if you actually work for him, then you're worth a nickel.
Phone numbers aren't.

Well, it has to be true doesn't it?
I mean, after all, USA Today and Politico are beacons of truth and justice when it comes to "reporting" on Republicans, aren't they?
Likely Newt is selling the emails and phonelists and addresses. These people are now fair game.

Well, it's all over on Hotair and the blogs, but it's got his campaign spokesman confirming it in the story, so you'd think he'd have refuted it somewhere by now.
When Newt said he could be "very, very enthusiastic" about Romney is when my alarm bells went off. It seems pretty obvious that he's just milking the exit for a better cushion on the way out.
If he personally lent his campaign money, what interest rate and terms did the campaign give himself?
Seriously, though.
How can we avoid having 5 to 7 quitter candidates splitting the early conservative primary voters and making it easy for the RINO to roll up wins?
Before the rant on Newt lets remember who let Newt down. The voters!
I still believe Newt is the only chance we have for a Constitutional freedom in America.
LOL! This probably isn't the best thread to post that.
I’m not ranting on Newt.
I just posted above that the real problem is the quitteridiots who also ran early and sucked votes away from Newt to give Romney delegates early and often.
I mean really? Michele Bachmann on a stage vs Newt? Ridiculous.
So you’re completely correct. I don’t understand the attitude on this board that “the evil GOPe and Rove STOLE the nomination for Romney.”
How? The problem was that a bunch of suckers voted for “Other Than Newt” early on.
Sure it is. A fool and his money....
