Less than two months ago, Herman Cain, who was out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination, stood on a stage in West Palm Beach, just three days before the Florida primary and told the crowd, I hereby officially and enthusiastically endorse Newt Gingrich for the president of the Unites States. Gingrich had just come off a sweeping win in South Carolina, had the fundraising dollars pouring in and a financial safety net in billionaire donor Sheldon Adelson.
But on Monday Cain walked back his endorsement of Gingrich saying, With all due respect, lets get on with this, OK?
I even endorsed Newt Gingrich at one point because I thought that he had a shot. Well, not now. He doesnt have a shot, Cain said to Washington radio station WMAL.
A former Cain staffer told ABC News that Cains call for Gingrich to bow out isnt surprising.
He likes to go with his gut. Mr. Cain walked up to line of joining the establishment without crossing it, the former Cain staffer said.
Cain refused to comment to ABC News Monday over this mornings comments about Gingrich, but Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond said the party is trying is lock down the nomination.
The angle right now is for the party to get to a nominee as fast as possible, Hammond said. Its up to Herman Cain whether or not hes put in his application with the establishment.
Cain wasnt the only Republican candidate to...endorse the not-Romney candidate. Rick Perry also endorsed Gingrich when he left the race.
A spokesman for Perry, Catherine Frazier, told ABC News that he will stay loyal to Gingrich but will support the eventual nominee.
Gov. Perry puts a premium on loyalty and hell back Gingrich as long as hes in the race, Frazier said.

Damn, I'm glad I never placed my complete trust in Herman Cain. What a traitor.
I’ve had no use for Cain since he tried to make that stupid rock into a racial issue, then accused Perry of being behind his campaign troubles. And he never apologized, as a decent man would have.
Once again, we see the contrast between the character of Rick Perry and the character of Herman Cain.
When Cain quit, I was done. I don’t like any of them after him. We needed a businessman to fix this financial
debacle....not a politician.
If you’d given him $400, he could have gotten a bottle of that nice wine he ordered on that trip.
We do, and it was the cainiacs who led the vicious war against Rick Perry and who now are moaning that we don’t have a conservative candidate.
I agree with you completely FRiend! I’m for conservatives for sure, but it is total idiocy to sit out or whatever and let Obama have 4 more years.
What Planet are u living on?
If Romney was EVER going to tack right, it would have been
in the GOP primary’s. He NEVER Did and he sure won’t NOW.
Get real. This was a RINO from start to finish, without
even throwing out a few bones to conservatives during the primary’s.
Boy, I just can’t keep up with the “We loved them, but then they said something we didn’t like so now we don’t love them” list! My hand is getting cramps writing down all the former conservative heroes who’ve been tossed under the bus:
Ann Coulter
Paul Ryan
Karl Rove
Rush Limbaugh (on certain days)
Sean Hannity (on certain days)
Herman Cain
...and the list will go on. Sigh.
I liked him at first. But NOT $400 worth much.
He flamed out quick.
I am all in to defeat Obama. I do not equate Obama and Romney. Romney isnt Obama. That may not meet FR orthodoxy, but that is my observation.
Romney, like Rush has said, can (and must be) PUSHED to the right. Obama cannot be pushed to the right...he is an Alinsky disciple.
We missed a golden opportunity when Perry suspended his campaign. I was amazed at the anti-Perry venom that was spouted on this site.
What stunned me were the misrepresentations and flat out lies that were told about him.
I never did care for that two bit philandering a-hole Herman Cain.
And boy, did I catch crap for that position here on FR.
I feel vindicated. Clearly, he’s just another opportunistic RINO lover. Nine nine nine my dyin’ ass.
FUHC. AND the horse you rode in on.
Me too. Perry was the best candidate - Oh! But he wasn't a good debater......well look where we are now.
This is what we get when we let the media tell us "who can win" based on their phoney-baloney polls. The Perry hate on this site was disgusting and vile, and I'll not soon forget it either.
THe list could go on — you’d find it easier to make a list of those who aren’t on the outs, especially after another month or so.
” - - - I even endorsed Newt Gingrich at one point because I thought that he had a shot. Well, not now. He doesnt have a shot, Cain said to Washington radio station WMAL.”
From the above quote from your article, it is obvious that Cain defines the problem as “Who is Number One?” Which is the same as the sports-minded Liberal Agenda Media.
Cain definitely does not understand the problem which is to stop the culture of ever-expanding Federal Spending in “both” political parties.
It is revealing to remember that Cain, the Candidate, often said “I’m a businessman. The first thing I have to do is to define the problem.”
So now Cain chooses Obamalite over Obama - - - whoop - - dee - - -doo.
Neither one of these politicians have a clue about the problem of Federal Overspending.
Some of us thought that Cain might not be a politician, it is now obvious that he is a politician, and has sold out Newt for the slimy favors of the GOP-Elite.
BTW, my definition of a politician is “anyone whose word cannot be trusted.”
_______
Was Cain a Summer Soldier,
Like Santorium at his test?
Did he sell out for favors,
And throw Newt ‘neath the Bus?
Where are the Men with backbones?
Step up and advance The Cause!
All is silent ‘cept out yonder - - -
Did you see him? Maybe not - - - .
Time flits by so fast
That is Tampa up ahead.
The speeches are all written,
Ready to be read.
Who will speak out for us?
Who will ring the bell?
The Fecal Federal Finger’s shadow
Looms to send us all to HELL!
Will the Willard Romney,
Smiley-faced and all,
Lead us forth in battle,
Into The Gates of Hell?
Or will Milktoast Willy
Dilly-dally all the way,
Content to be just second best,
‘Nair trying to save the day?
Mark Levin also gave up on Newt too soon.
