Paul Singer, Dan Loeb and Cliff Asness three hedge fund managers and major players in donor circles each cut six-figure checks toward the landmark effort to legalize gay marriage in New York.
Singer, the intensely-private head of Elliott Associates, has been especially active in donating to groups aimed at legalizing gay marriage in different states over the last five years, concurrent with his rise as one of the Republican partys mot prominent bundlers and donors to party committees. According to a recent New York Times story, Singer has donated $8 million to pro-gay marriage efforts since 2007.
Hes also helped raise more than $1 million for Romneys campaign, as well as donated another $1 million to the super PAC supporting the all-but-assured Republican nominee.

Romney imposed gay marriage by his fiat against the Mass. Constitution by using improper executive authority.
"While former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney claims he did everything possible to throttle homosexual marriage in his state his campaign now saying he took "every conceivable step within the law to defend traditional marriage" several constitutional experts say that just isn't so.
"What Romney did [was] he exercised illegal legislative authority," Herb Titus said of the governor's actions after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court released its opinion in the Goodridge case in 2003. "He was bound by what? There was no order. There wasn't even any order to the Department of Public Health to do anything."
Titus, a Harvard law graduate, was founding dean of Pat Robertson's Regent University Law School. He also worked with former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, ...
Romney's aides have told WND that after four of the seven court members reinterpreted the definition of marriage, he believed he had no choice but to direct clerks and others to change state marriage forms and begin registering same-sex couples.
Some opponents contend that with those actions, Romney did no more or less than create the first homosexual marriages recognized in the nation. And Titus agrees."
"....But the court's decision conflicts with the constitutional philosophy of three co-equal branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial, Titus said. It also violates with the Massachusetts Constitution, which states: "The power of suspending the laws, or (suspending) the execution of the laws, ought never to be exercised but by the legislature..."
And it cannot even be derived from the opinion itself, asserts the pro-family activist group Mass Resistance, which says the decision did four things:
* First, it acknowledged that the current law does not permit same-sex marriage.
"The only reasonable explanation is that the Legislature did not intend that same-sex couples be licensed to marry. We conclude, as did the judge, that G.L. c. 207 may not be construed to permit same-sex couples to marry."
* Second, it said it is NOT striking down the marriage laws (among other things, the Massachusetts Constitution forbids a court to change laws)
"Here, no one argues that striking down the marriage laws is an appropriate form of relief."
* Third, it declared that not allowing same-sex marriages is a violation of the Massachusetts Constitution.
"We declare that barring an individual from the protections, benefits, and obligations of civil marriage solely because that person would marry a person of the same sex violates the Massachusetts Constitution."
* And fourth, given that the court is not changing any laws, the SJC gave the Legislature 180 days to "take such action as it may deem appropriate."
"We vacate the summary judgment for the department. We remand this case to the Superior Court for entry of judgment consistent with this opinion. Entry of judgment shall be stayed for 180 days to permit the Legislature to take such action as it may deem appropriate in light of this opinion."
After the Legislature did nothing during the 180 days, Romney then took action "on his own," the group said.
"Gov. Romney's legal counsel issued a directive to the Justices of the Peace that they must perform same-sex marriages when requested or 'face personal liability' or be fired," the group said."
Yup. And I seriously doubt this guy has given Romney two million dollars, in this election cycle, with no quid pro quo.
I brought this up on another conservative forum and was told “its a new day and age get used to it”.
I guess its an ex-conservative site.
Cliff Asness
Unfortunate name there.
This is bizarre, since Mother Jones had a similar article on Mormon hedge fund richies who funded Prop 8’s passage who are now giving millions to Mittens. One side is being badly misled - or both!
Good catch EV!
what this is about is so called republicans looking out for ones own pocket and power and ignoring everything what made America great.
Those sort of people couldn’t careless if people married a sheep or a horse or even had sex with a dog because as far as they’re concerned all what matters is their own frigging pockets.
Those kind of people are just as sick as those who want to cut off their own penis and call themselves a woman and then think they’re normal.
It’s sick you and I and millions the vast majority know this but because these people talk in their circles , because they know a couple of homo’s , cross dressers, or self mutilators and they’ve had a beer with them after work then hey OK, all is all right .
The crap of a new day or the youngsters know betters then that is all B/S.
What it really means is where one is from.
Take fro instance the north east, they come down south and call themselves republicans, even the gall conservatives most of them.
Then they tell you they have no problem with a queer because they know them or they know a self mutilating sicko and they are alright. etc.
These people are a victim of their own area or most of them are unless they are like massmike etc who have their own brain and don’t give up their own values.
I met two women today from up there and they had views to the left wing but they thought of themselves as conservatives because they did not want to pay taxes.
It’s pathetic. Yoiu keep up the good fight and as for “well this is the “ what ever year , then guess what I have 3 kids.
Their friends sleep over and come over nearly every night and not one of their pals think homo’s and cross dressers are normal.
My oldest is in 8th grade, top of the class etc and he and his pals infact not one kid who he knows thinks homo’s and cross dressers is normal so this B/S about the younger lot is propaganda unless one lives in the north east and the west coast
To be this active and involved in the gay sex cause...Mittens must be gay. Anne’s probably a beard.
Don’t know how this one slipped by us...
Well, when words and actions are both involved, and they don’t match, always believe the actions.
Yep.
It’s a winnowing season...

Indeed. What these alleged “social liberals but fiscal conservatives” fail to realize is that without social conservatism, there is no fiscal conservatism. God is giving our country up per Romans 1.

1.) "Husband" and "Wife" has been replaced by "Party A" and "Party B".
2.) Justices of the Peace are required to "solemnize" these marriages or be fired, as ordered by Gov. Mitt Romney on April 25, 2004. "We're just following the law," said Mitt Romney.
3.) Male/Female checkoffs for both Party A and Party B now on marriage license.
None of this was required by any law passed by the Legislature, or even ordered by the court. Governor Mitt Romney did this on his own, in cooperation with the ruling: "We're just following the law."

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all."" -- President Ronald Reagan
