Colorado Republicans are heading to their national convention with their most conservative delegation in years, as supporters for Ron Paul and Rick Santorum masterminded a stunning upset in electing delegates.
[Big SNIP]
This game is not over until August in Tampa," said Michelle Morin of El Paso County, who spoke on behalf of Gingrich. "We need the best leader to defeat the left."

So, reassure me. What are the chances of a brokered convention?
The base is PO’d.
Some Santorum supporters moved to Paul and created a “Conservative Unity Slate.”
Based on the precinct caucuses, 17 delegates were projected for Santorum, 14 for Romney and 1 for Paul. Romney picked up 2 more than projected. This is not impressive for the now presumptive nominee of the party. Still, there is more to go on at the National Convention than nominate a presidential and vice presidential candidate. There is also the national platform. Wile Romney has now bought into the Ryan budget on economic issues, and has given lip service on social issues, it is important that the party remains a conservative party as defined by the platform. Obviously, there will always be a range of views on the issues addressed in the platform, and our party will have some moderates and libertarians in addition to conservatives. But, we want to keep the party centered where it currently is, not drift into socialism along with the country.
Mitt Romney backers like Lugar.
Santorum and Romney were tied.
The NRA and Tea Party voters like Mourdock.
What do you think is going to happen to Mourdock now?
I hope we can do better than that! But you certainly make a great argument why everyone should be voting in the next 20 primaries for Newt. Whether or not he can win, we need more conservative delegates at the convention. Because of winner-take-all rules in some districts and states, Romney will win the delegates if the vote splits among multiple conservative candidates.
“Former Congressman Bob Beauprez and former U.S. Sen. Hank Brown, both Romney supporters, were the top two vote getters.”
“Romney supporters realized they couldnt dilute their vote and had to stick with their slate, although plenty of other Romney backers were running as delegates, said Attorney General John Suthers.
The wake-up call was how much discipline you have to have when you have a slate, said Suthers, a Romney delegate.”
These excerpts from the article identify some GOP-e supporters, which both confirms the existence of it and names some names for once. One longterm benefit of this sorry state of affairs is that the liberals within have to come out into the open to support their liberal, and those opposed to nominating gungrabbing liberals who support gay marriage and socialized medicine should take note of who these people are.
Bump!
Fortunately, the largest bloc of "Saint Rick's" (as some Santorum haters have called him) people are Christian Conservatives and even though Gingrich experienced some past morality issues he was never pro-homosexual privileges nor pro-abortion.
At the primaries from now on, Newt should get the lion's share of Santorum’s people—that is, of course, if Rick's name has been removed from the ballots—if not I can only guess.
His name definitely won’t be removed from all ballots, if any. Cain, Perry, Bachmann have continued to get votes in the primaries.
Good video. The last guy at 2:55 is great. Do these ABO types really think Romney can beat Obama when gun-owners are calling Romney a pandering idiot and Christian women are calling into Bill Bennett’s radio show in tears that a seemingly pro-choice candidate might be the nominee? Might be to time to start backing Newt before the remaining 45% of delegates are voted on if you REALLY want to defeat Obama.

I wonder why nobody has noticed that the onerous Romney has now been steadfastly maintaining a delegate count of “666”?
No kiddin...?
A colossal waste of time, energy and money.
This vain exercise and the whole Republican nominating process this year.
The fruit of it all is Mitt Romney and the Romney Republican Party, and you can tell a tree by its fruit.
So, reassure me some more? :)
What, Newt and Sarah run third party? That's what some around here are wishing for. I'd support that too but my FIL... uh, nevermind, uh... "The country club set" would take all their money and go home, you know...
...kinda like the parable of which part of the human body is really in charge, probably with the same results.
...so name recognition and his intense well publicized campaigning to date—plus his “non campaign connected” continuing kudos given him by certain big poobahs of the conservative media— may still keep him in the running?
Nahhhhh, it can't happen...can it?
I think that Lugar is going down, I voted for Newt after Santorum dropped out (Early voting has started in, IN).
Thank you for the information re early voting.
