My Grandmother who was born in the early 1900's, she was a very quiet woman yet a very wise woman, she would go to Mass and see the most pious of people there, then she'd see them outside of Church and they were mean miserable people, 1 day she said to my Mom and her siblings that "people will be surprised who they see in Heaven". My point? God is the only 1 to Judge, no 1 else, and to presume that God will Judge harshly those who vote for the eventual nominee if it's Romney? that's arrogance beyond belief, and it's not your place to presume how God will Judge.
Your grandmother can judge others, but no one else except God? How convenient for you.
Trisham... this actually rings a bell... wasn’t something like this (almost exactly) discussed a couple or 3 years ago? I think you were in on the discussion too.. maybe it is my memory failing (or dejavu)) :p
Mitt's religion believes that their god was once a man, and had to "work his way" up to Godhood...seems to be catching.
And He is. He's also holy and righteous. We don't sin deliberately, figuring, oh, what the heck, I'll ask forgiveness later. That makes a mockery of Christ's sacrifice.
"And while we're at it, we have people being murdered everyday in our Country and around the world, we have people in parts of the world being starved by their own leaders, do we seriously think people voting for the presumptive Republican nominee are God's priority?"
50 million infants have been aborted since 1973. You don't think that's a priority to the Lord? Thanks to Mitt Romney, women in MA are having their $50 abortions as we speak.
Meh....I had one glass too many last night, and it loosened my tongue. That hasn't happened to me in too many moons to remember. I think you know that I don't normally speak that way to folks.
Still, this is one of the most heated threads I've ever seen on this forum. I won't lie - some of the comments left me very emotionally charged, and I didn't hold back when responding. I'm not going to walk back anything I said, but I have taken a walk from the discussion today, just to keep my cool.
I haven't checked today. Is that one still here?
At this point I think you’re just wasting your time and effort. I know exactly what your grandmother was saying and she was 100% correct. I have seen it myself. Your grandmother was in know way presuming to know who was getting into heaven.
I think I’ll take my chances.
I don’t know. I’ve learned a lot since I’ve been here. :)
Matthew 10:29-31
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Fathers care.[a] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So dont be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Then go ahead and vote for Romney. Just let us vote the way our consciences dictate.
Last I checked, unfortunately yes :/
Amen Mary. Could not have said it better.
I have kept my nose out of this fight until now. I am a montly contributer and agree with 99% here. I have given $100 to Cain and $350 to Newt. This money as I told my wife is for our future. Meaning getting the Marxist out of the White House.
I am in the Coal Industry and if he isn’t out by January of next year I will never retire. I bought 13,000 shares at $60 and now it is $10 due to his regulations.
For anyone to tell me not to vote for the Republican nominie can kiss my ass. This man Obama is destroying our country and anything I still have for a retirement. My kid’s and grandbabbies are screwed. Don’t vote for Romney (if he is the guy) and show everyone.........not in my house! This is not Concord or Bunker Hill. We have a Republic that is being taking over by a communist.
Over the last week I can’t believe the way this site has turned. The F/U’s are flying from the boss and I never thought I would see that day.
I have been loyal to the cause here, but if the Mod’s and Jim fill it is time for me to move on, so be it. This is my life and my kid’s.
I love my Country more than Free Republic.
Bravo! Your grandmother makes a great case AGAINST romney.
He acts like a wonderful family man, yet he doesn't hesitate to murder the most defenseless in their mothers womb. Or care much for those who survive the womb to be sodomized by his Log Cabin buddies.
Good on Granny!!!!
Judge not lest ye be judged.
I am astounded that people on FR are seriously trying to biblically justify their support for an abortion legislating, gay legislating compulsively lying candidate.
That’s the kind of things Muslims turn to in justification for jihad isn’t it? That their ‘god’ is cool with it?
More specifically, when they head down to Dubai or one of the other hell holes to act western, isn’t it because it because Allah cannot see there so it makes it OK? Sure looks a lot like “God has other priorities” thinking to me.
Well, when people are forced into lying to themselves to justify actions they know are wrong, what else can they do? Since it’s unlikely Jesus Christ will appear in a blaze of glory and say,
“Er, No, you are not making me happy by electing a man whose actions resulted in me working the return aisle of the stork hangar...and BTW, the babies were quite damaged upon arrival back upstairs”
They just pretend it’s all good.
I cannot in words, communicate my disgust regarding people so freely willing to abandon their very faith to elect Romney. I want to, but I just cannot find the words. So be it. I’m not the one who will stand before God on that matter. I have enough to account for and will not add dead children to my sins.
Or not if the circumstance demands. Many Christians will not cast a vote for evil, lessor or otherwise.
Mitt better find Jesus and soon on abortion if he wants a chance at the presidency.
It is arresting to imagine a Romney White House, inevitably filled with as many former Bain colleagues as each of his other public ventures have been: The PowerPoints, the 80-20 jargon, the clinical separation of decision-making from ideology, the detachment of those decisions from moral consequence, a persistent blind spot for people as people. It would represent the final ascension of a perfectly American type, one that has already remade the culture of business. I once asked a Bain colleague of Romneys how Romney thought of his own core competence. I think Mitt thinks hes good at being Mitt Romney, the colleague said.
