Rally round the Rosen! On his MSNBC show this morning Chuck Todd used variations on the phrase "manufactured controversy" no fewer than eight times in dismissing the controversy around Rosen's "Ann Romney never worked a day in her life" remarks.
By the end of a subsequent segment, Todd had former Obama and Clinton adviser [and Dee Dee sister] Betsy Myers taking up the "manufactured" meme.

He’s a propagandist.
I guess I have to take him at his word because if anyone knows about manufactured controversies it’s old Chuckie and the commie chimps at msnbc!
Everyone knows the reality. If a Republican dogcatcher from a town of 12, in the state of Wyoming, had said this the lead story at NBC would be “REPUBLICAN’s attack Moms!!!”
I thought we were trying to bring manufacturing back to the US.
We haven’t had a manufactured controversy since, um, since Martin/Zimmerman.
Chuck Todd, Knee Pad Journalism’s finest.
I caught a bit of Morning Schmoe today and my blood was boiling, as Joe was incredulous that someone who worked for CNN and had no relationship with the White House was the spark of such a fuss. Funny, but NO ONE on that liberal cesspool mentioned that Rosen was at the WH 35 times or poked fun at the EGREGIOUS lies of Jay Carney (”I personally know 3 women named Hilary Rosen, so who was at the White House?”). Wow...Jay must know at least ten people named Steve Rosenberg (I actually know 2).
No upchuck, you can’t unring a bell. She said what she meant and it probably came from 0 bummer.
I caught that too on Morning Joe. It was upchuck disgusting how Joe was shilling for the White House just because everyone in the DNC was rebuking Rosen. As if divorcing themselves from Rosen means they were never married.
Peggy Noonan confronted that idiot Scarborough by mentioning that “this person on TV” had been to the White House 35 times. To which Joe retreated defensively by challenging Noonan to decry Allen West for stating the obvious - that 80 congressmen are communists. His typical ‘everybody does it’ routine when a democrat is in hot water.
Noonan didn’t take the bait. I would have said, “ I didn’t know there were just 80 democrats in Congress.”
“Chuck Todd, Knee Pad Journalisms finest.”
Upchuck Todd referred to the Rosen comment as the latest “shiny object,” as if it was just an irritating distractor in the presidential campaign. But he never referred to free contraception pills or GSA spendathons as distracting ‘shiny objects.” In his world that was a serious campaign issue.
According to Beck the DNC is selling “War on Women” refrigerator magnets. Maybe I’ll send Upchuck Todd one of those shiny objects.
What keeps me occasionally coming back to Morning Joe are the times when they have good conservatives on (rare, but worthwhile when they do).
I only DVR Morning Joe on occasion.
I was just curious how they would spin the attack on Ann Romney.
And I was just as ticked off as you when I saw that sellout-Scarborough started off with mock horror at how a mere CNN pundit could create all this fuss.
She was just a pundit. No connections to Obama. Nothing about her role as a DNC consultant to tame Wasserman Schulz or as an apologist for BP.
Ann Romney was too kind in her response to Rosen. Remember when both Kerry and Edwards brought up Mary Cheney’s lesbianism in the presidential debates? I would have responded by commenting on how difficult it must have been for Rosen as a democrat lesbian mother raising two children and how hard it must have been for her kids when the democrat lesbians divorced.
Neal Cavuto had a nice Common Sense piece today about the meanness and lack of empathy of privileged demoRAT operatives.
