NRA gathers amid growing storm over gun laws

No one had yet heard of a Florida teenager named Trayvon Martin when a group of Wisconsin Republicans got together last year to discuss expanding a self-defense bill before the State Legislature.

The bill, known as the Castle Doctrine, made it harder to prosecute or sue people who used deadly force against intruders inside their houses.

But the Wisconsin legislators, urged on by the National Rifle Association in a series of meetings, wanted it to go further. They shaped an amendment that extended the bill’s protections to include lawns, sidewalks and swimming pools outside the residences, as well as vehicles and places of business.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

NRA gathers amid growing storm over gun laws

There is no “growing storm” over gun laws, there is only a tempest in a teapot generated by the “usual suspects” and magnified by the liberal media so that it looks like a “storm”. I for one hope the democrats do decide the public is on their side and show their anti-gun colors by trying to repeal “stand your ground”. This election will be 1994 all over again...

I am a proud member of the NRA and part of their grass roots network of legislative volunteers. We now have a good Castle law in Pennsylvania that has already seen action in Reading Pa where a white man successfully defended himself against attack by three black thugs. One was shot and killed and there are no charges being filed.

It won’t be stand your ground, it will be concealed carry laws. Look at when the Zimmerman trial will start. October, just in time for the election.

The NRA gets on my nerves at times with its leniency, but they are if nothing else, patient.

This was all part of Ubama's "under the radar" plan for gun control.

They were waiting for a Trayvon and they can't afford to lose him, which is why state-controlled media is STILL running the photo of the innocent ten-year old Trayvon instead of the 17-year old, drug-dealing, gang-tatted, golden-grilled, hoodie-wearing street thug he had become.

Gluck cuz if the headlines on my news aggregator are any indication, everyone everywhere is shooting everybody and WE'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING!

Even about Chicagoland which is the capital of gun control in the midwest we see headlines like this on Drudge Report:

Homicides in Chicago soar; 120 dead in 2012, 500 wounded

And

GODFATHER blames Daley for rampant crime...

No Concealed Carry in Illinois yet Chicago tells the rest of the state what gun laws the serfs must live under.

Today's journalism is so biased and/or poorly written that it is all about HEADLINES!

Headlines must sell because the stories behind them are nothing but empty suits.

I believe this was the original title to the piece:

Erica Goode / New York Times: N.R.A.’s Influence Seen in Expansion of Self-Defense Laws

Are the New York slimes really coming out against the right of Self-Defense?

That’s the impression you get from the headline.

Can our republic survive if the Law-abiding are “allowed” to defend themselves from Criminals and the government? /sarc.

One was shot and killed and there are no charges being filed.

Maybe when people learn that attacking random pedestrians can have unpleasant consequences, these incidents will stop.

The Left could give a damn about Black people getting killed. They jumped on this tragedy to push their agenda.
