Attorney General Eric Holder called the death of Trayvon Martin a pain no parent should have to endure, and said that the Justice Department has a high bar to cross to bring a federal hate crime case against George Zimmerman.
For a federal hate crime, we have to prove the highest standard in the law it is something that was reckless, that was negligent, Holder said at a news conference. We have to show that there was a specific intent to do the crime with the requisite state of mind.
Asked by ABC News Pierre Thomas about his reaction to the murder of Martin as a parent, Holder said, People have reacted to this on a number of levels. I mean as a parent, I reacted to it [as] this is a pain that no parent should have to endure. The notion of having to bury a child is something that is, I think, in some ways for a parent the ultimate pain, so there was that reaction.
We also have, I think, a reaction that is based on issues we have faced in this nation over the years. It brings to the surface many of those issues, so there was that reaction as well, Holder said....

Gonna show that cracker b**** Janet Reno what a real inferno looks like.
Now, if Zimmerman had been killed in this incident, it would have been okay. It would have been par for the course. But when Trayvon Martin gets killed, it must be racism and civil rights violations.
As it is now, this society totally stinks. And I mean totally.
Zimmerman is a Hispanic Democrat, shouldn’t be to hard to make the case.......Right Eric? /s
Hey, there are white men I, a white man, hate. Why can’t I hate a black man, if I have a reason?
Maybe Obozo will create a "No Thug left Behind" economic recovery program that can be tied in with Green Energy?
More like a national mindset!
Dunno. Ask a progressive, they have all the answers.
While I have weighed in a number of times here (as a former Prosecutor) that I absolutely would charge Zimmerman with Voluntary and Involuntary Manslaughter, I see ZERO evidence of a hate crime. That won’t be charged.
I knew someone in college who claimed, with a completely straight face, that "I'm not prejudiced, I hate everybody." Oh, and he could come up with at least a half dozen very un-PC names for any ethnic/racial/religious group you could name, all in about 3 seconds.
Sounds to me that Holder is setting the stage for doing nothing - the standards are too high, etc., etc. Don’t forget, the Department of (Extremely Selective) Justice will have its hands full ignoring voter fraud, death threats by black groups, fighting Congressional subpoenas on Fast & Furious and eliminating all of the evidence it can of the F & F operation. Can’t jeopardize all of those important things just for one kid...and besides, Jesse and Al will make sure that this is a looooooong, hot summer in the inner cities.
Hmmm. Sounds like Holder is backing down.
Obama hit the tar baby and has a big problem.
Normally, about a year before the election, dems start ramping up the racial stuff to keep the black community all upset. That increases black voter turnout. So when Obama did the “my son would look like . . . “ schtick, that was the goal.
But it’s gotten out of hand. Now, if Zimmerman is not indicted, there is a serious possibility of race riots. Ask Lyndon Johnson and Hubert Humphrey how race riots help your election chances.
If the feds indict, they have an unwinnable case unless they can get venue transferred to Washington D.C., where the jurors will believe most anything.
Translation: "We are manufacturing the evidence to prove that Zimmerman committed a hate crime!!"
