Why would the media want to foment a race war?
They might be just trying to stir things up for 0bama’s advantage, but this is playing with fire in the extreme.
I would suggest that it's because they are Marxists, if not very smart ones, and they imagine that an uprising of the non-workers would usher in a glorious welfare paradise in which they - the media "elites" and those like them - would live in luxury, presiding with total authority over the "equality" of all those other losers. (It almost looks like I'm describing "The Hunger Games" here ;-).
A quick reading of a few unbiased history texts would reveal the substantial statistical likelihood of any individual journalist's ending up dead or in jail until he rots (see Russia, Cuba), but they don't read.
