An innocent man who had legally been raising a few dozen chickens and other small birds in the backyard of his suburban Atlanta home is now dead, following a crusade of terror perpetrated against him by the City of Roswell in Georgia. Andrew Wordes, who died during a recent raid on his property in which county marshals tried to illegally evict him, was the obvious victim of a rogue state gone mad -- and his blood is now on the hands of the Roswell City Administrator, the Roswell City Council, and the Roswell Police Department, all of which robbed from Wordes his property, his livelihood, and ultimately his life.
I don’t see how .97 acre part way down a suburban street, with houses on both sides, backing up to the parking lot of a business on the main drag, is going to be desirable for a park whether it has a creek on it or not. Especially since there are already two good-sized parks nearby.
If on the other hand you had 100, you might not be feeling the love from your neighbors. It seems like Wordes' neighbors were o.k. with the idea until things got out of hand.
Not everyone has the mental wherewithal to fight such oppression.

Nice hearsay, yet again.
Private property rights are in the cross-hairs of the communist bastards among us. If you look at all the details of the case, you will see mini-tyrants of a city out of control.
I don’t care what your one source and the city-sympathetic media says. The big picture tells a different, horrible story.
If this man didn't have the mental wherewithal to stay out of trouble with that kind of backing, he was well below average in that department.
PS: you appear to be on the side of tyranny.
Oooookay. Suit yourself.
Because the city was approving development left and right without proper consideration to storm run off and flood control.
All the run off from those parking lots and new developments floods the streams and his lot was the corner lot formed by two creek branches. Which was going to get flooded over and over.
The quick and cheap fix was to get rid of the homeowner and take possession of the lot, designate it greenspace and not worry anymore.
He offered to sell it to the city and they declined.
The foreclosure was done by Equity Trust Company FBO 9191 IRA. I think I’ve decoded it For Benefit Of 9191 Individual Retirement Account. So find out the owner of the that IRA bought the lot as an “investment” and you’ll know who was behind this abuse of power.
Watch, it will be sold to the city at a profit by somebody with connections by blood or marriage to somebody in city government. I guaran-damn-tee it.
Just because somebody is paranoid doesn’t mean they don’t have real enemies. He’s exactly the type that is easily targeted because it’s easy to blame him for causing his own problems.
I have had dealings with the City of Roswell both legal and personal, and have always found them fairly reasonable. The mayor is a pretty good guy, long time local roots, a little bit eccentric (collects log cabins and runs his own small sawmill). His wife's an artist. He doesn't strike me as the tyrant type.
Of course, I could be wrong, but before you just run with the idea that this was "tyranny", you might consider some other points of view, particularly since the original account posted here is to say the least highly colored.
Eviction had nothing to do with chickens or out of control government. People get evicted everyday for nonpayment.
Don’t suppose it occurred to you that that volunteer was told to quit helping through back channels?
The local congressman’s wife is on the city council.
Something smells and it’s not the chicken shit.
Okay, Mother, I hope you enjoy the future of America under the current and future “leadership” you seem to embrace. That is not conspiracy, but fact.
You have been a very vocal presence on this thread, so I do wonder what your part in this whole deal might be. Damage control, maybe?
Regardless. The majority of us freedom-loving, private property rights-loving Americans do not agree with you.
The flood everybody's talking about in the stories was probably the September 2009 flood - worst since 1919 and hopefully will not recur anytime soon. We live near the river and I have never seen the water anywhere near as high as that before.
Funny how the story changes when the truth comes out. Too bad he didn't receive psychological help.
Because I ask questions, consider sources, and give another point of view, I must be part of a conspiracy to engage in damage control?
I've been active on the thread because I'm local to this story, I have a friend who actually lived on the street until recently, and I was a bit put off by the original news item. Look at the language there:
City of Roswell, GA, bullies Andrew Wordes to death over his backyard chickensThat is not a news story - that is at best editorial opinion and at worst bordering on hysteria. Also you might consider the policy statement of the website from which this item was taken:An innocent man who had legally been raising a few dozen chickens and other small birds in the backyard of his suburban Atlanta home is now dead, following a crusade of terror perpetrated against him by the City of Roswell in Georgia. In August, 2008, we revolutionized our thinking about financing the pursuit of our mission to protect sustainable life on planet Earth. This breakthrough philosophy on attracting wealth to be used for constructive purposes is outlined in our popular report, "The 7 Principles of Mindful Wealth," available to read for free at: http://www.naturalnews.com/Report_Mindful_Wealth_0.html
The US census indicates a 10% increase in population over the past decade and the city’s own websites says that 2009 assessed valuation of permitted construction of 18.4 million and the median house value is over 300K.
They have had lots of development all over, it doesn’t have to be next door to the lot, run off into creeks will come from many more points, but the overflow is going to happen in that flood zone at the confluence of those two creeks.
They could have just bought him out when he offered to sell it to the city. It’s in their development plan, so you tell me why they didn’t take him up on the offer.
Because somebody saw a chance to create a “nuisance” property, buy it up cheap and then resell it to the city.
Ah! There it is! I had a feeling it was in your thinking somewhere.
The “sustainable” racket. Man, I really can’t tell you enough how that United Nations Agenda 21 scheme is an enemy—not just of America, but the entire free world.
You obviously don't know the volunteer in question. Roy Barnes can be a real PITA, and I'm not particularly fond of him, but nobody tells him what to do. Not even Tom Price's wife. Maybe particularly not Tom Price's wife, because Price and Barnes are at opposite ends of local politics.
Tom Price is my congressman. He's very conservative, very responsive to his constituents, and the idea that he or his wife would be involved in a conspiracy to do to death a Roswell resident over chickens - or zoning - is just completely laughable.
A much more likely scenario is that this unfortunate man refused to take Barnes's advice, which would not sit well with Barnes.
The sustainable racket is NOT in my thinking -- it's the policy statement and guiding light of the man who wrote this slanted article!
(do you hear me now?)
