HOUSTON -
A man was shot during a home invasion committed by three teenagers, investigators said.
Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said the teenagers forced their way into a home in the 8100 block of Ivan Reid near Wilson Reid in northwest Harris County through an unlocked garage door on Saturday night.
All three robbers, an 18-year-old male, a 15-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, were armed with guns, detectives said.
Investigators said the robbers demanded money and the two male teenagers started carting electronics out of the house.
The female robber put her gun on a coffee table and the resident picked it up and shot her, officials said.
Deputy constables said that when the two male robbers ran back into the house and shot and beat the resident.
Neighbor Christine Mason, who is a nurse, said the resident came out of the house looking for help.
"I opened my front door and he's coming across the yard saying, 'help, help,'" Mason said. "I did a quick assessment on him. He had been shot in the neck and a couple times on the side, but it looks like it was just grazes. He had a huge knot on his head."
Investigators said the resident suffered a total of five gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized in critical condition.
"He kept saying, 'I wish I wouldn't have left my garage door open,'" Mason said.
A woman and four children were also inside the home during the attack. They were not hurt.

I bet they were colorful.
I'm guessing the girl's gun was a single-shot, that is the only possible explanation for not taking out the other two.
No pics or description of the perps. Must be those evil Japs or, even worse, the murdering Amish.
Or it just jammed. Side-effect of shooting them sideways.
That’s got to be a pretty sick feeling... just shot one of the perps, gun jams, and the other two come running in with guns blazing.

Probably a fairly cheap .380. A couple of years ago, a cousin of mine, his wife, and I went shooting to help her decide on a CC pistol. We tried a Sig .380 and discovered it was a vile little pistol that often jammed, was hard to load and had a nasty recoil. She decided she wanted a revolver, which she has now. My carry gun’s a S & W .357 Model 641 revolver. Home pistol, OTOH a S & W 40 Beretta model 96 that’s never jammed or failed to feed.
Similar situation in Dallas last week. Three predators decided to skip middle school and kick in the door of someones home only to be met with a gun blast to the chest, killing one of the 14 yo thugs....
There was a comment from a TV viewer thinking the school was to blame because they weren’t in school.....These thugs have only themselves to blame....
Here is what happens when you answer the door unarmed...very sad. http://www.wrdw.com/crimeteam12/headlines/Teens_arrested_for_Edgar_Street_home_invasion_146166245.html
“When they arrived, the victim said she answered a knock at her door and discovered an unknown man at her door asking for Old boy. As she was trying to figure out who he was talking about, another black male appeared waving a gun. The victim backed into her home at gunpoint and the two subjects ransacked the residence, taking several items. Before leaving, the two subjects sexually assaulted the victim. During the crime, the victims children were present.”
And here is another where the victim had weapons, but it does not sound like he had them with him when he answered the door at 3 AM. http://www.fdlreporter.com/article/20120403/FON0101/204030351/3-teens-arrested-home-invasion-assault-case?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE%7Cs
“Masked perpetrators forced their way into the home of Ott at 3:04 a.m. March 28, hit him in the face and stole six handguns, said McGee.”
