Oh brother. Are we about to see a political prosecution of George Zimmerman?

I doubt she can bring 1st degree murder charges against him. Maybe...PERHAPS 3rd degree/manslaughter...

So the Hispanic Democrat may be pursued.

If he isn't pursued, the fact she is a Republican will give fodder to the Sharpton (who lied about being in Sanford on Easter) lynch mob.

I doubt she can bring 1st degree murder charges against him.

That depends on if she wants to avoid having the IRS audit her for the past 7 years, and if there's anything the CIA/FBI can dig up in her past that she needs to keep quiet. The Federal government has ways of being pretty persuasive when it wants to... and Obama needs to have this go his way.

This is a tough case for an honest and sincere law person. Setting the racial aspect aside and acknowledging that none of us knows all the evidence, this is sticky.

I’m glad to hear that there is some potential sanity that might make some tough and honest decisions (if we are to assume that her ‘Republican’ moniker is a reliable indication of her character.

An easy way out would be to bring charges of some sort and lets courts sort it out (followed by riots).

How is it that a special prosecutor is involved at all?

Corey is known in legal circles as being passionate about victim's rights and having clubby ties to law enforcement. She won the State Attorney's Office seat after being fired from her job at the office a few years ago, beating the handpicked successor of the state attorney who fired her...

Corey, a Jacksonville native, also teaches classes for prosecutors and police officers about interrogations and the justifiable use of deadly force and is active in the local Republican Party...

She sounds like a Florida version of Sarah Palin, to me.

If she didn't have guts, she would have gone with a grand jury.

I say there will be no charges against Zimmerman, and she will have charts and graphs showing exactly why and shove them up the collective wazoo apertures of the New Black KKK.

The Martin family is going to regret attacking the integrity of the Sanford Police Dept. and Sanford Police Chief Lee.

Your Question: "Oh brother. Are we about to see a political prosecution of George Zimmerman? "

Response: Yes.

Comment: In order to keep blacks happy and avoid riots Zimmerman must be convicted, irrespective of the facts or the law. The prosecution's problem is to get Zimmerman before a black or white liberal judge and/or jury in a county that is predominately white. They may have to go to Federal Court. That is the way they convicted the LAPD officers in the Rodney King case. In the King case, if you recall, a California State jury aquitted the officers. THey then charged them in a Civil Rights case in Federal Court.

Zimmerman is toast!

Relax, FRiend.

From her description, she operates on truth, not feelings, and is well-acquainted with the laws regarding use of force.

From what *genuine* evidence I see, *if* the shooting was in self defense (and I personally believe it *was*), it looks good for Zimmermann to have a prosecutor like this one.

As far as the media and so forth using the fact of a Republican prosecutor for hate fodder... so what. We can’t have it both ways, and they’re going to be jerks no matter what if Zimmermann isn’t hung from a lamppost.

Despite her reputation for not accepting pleas, I’ll wager money that she goes for murder 2 and accepts a plea for whatever that jurisdiction calls negligent homicide. Zimmerman would be an absolute fool to go to trial. Given the nationwide (so no moving the trial) publicity, she could get whatever conviction she wants if it goes to trial.

If Holder’s people don’t get their way the Feds will probably step in. They have done it before.

it was just re-reported she was NOT going to the grand jury.

seems like she is finding something, ANYTHING to charge him as a sacrificial lamb.

A hint that she is bowing to political pressure and will prosecute him regardless of the evidence is that she recently stated that she will not put the case before a grand jury. Even though evidentiary standards are low for a grand jury, you still must have some evidence to indict. She does not want the embarrassment of the grand jury returning a no bill. She will prosecute him for manslaughter or negligent homicide without regard to whether she has the evidence or not.
