The MSM came very close to imposing gun registration, then gradually increasing regulation to reduce the numbers of owners until we would be in the same place England is now.
Thank the many activists, the foresight of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, and the technological innovations that brought about the new media just in time to thwart those attempts.
Thank God.
Excellent comments at the site.

We need to quit regulating based on statistically insignificant emotional events.
As a matter of fact, the 2A wasn’t contingent on future crime stats or perception.

The only reason for gun regulation is control of the people. That is no longer acceptable. Especially after Fast and Furious. The Government lost any and all credibility in the 2nd Amendment realm over that.
NO MORE GUN CONTROL! EVER!

Substitute the word "voting" for the word "gun" and see how the arguement changes.
Ownership of fire arms is a constitutional right, yet roadblocks pop up everywhere when you go to buy a gun. Voting is NOT a constitutional right, yet liberals want voting on the basis of the honor system.

Eric Holder's people like gun control because they consider violent crime to be a legitimate career path, and armed victims to be an OSHA violation.

Wishful thinking on the part of the left. That said, we must remain vigilant.

The Dimocrat pupeteers of the predator underclass have heard their cry of frustration that their prey are shooting back.
They want to preserve thekir “entitlement” to rob and rape without resistance.

Despite the scrutiny of state gun laws following the February shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., state legislators across the country continue to work on scaling back gun restrictions this session. What's this? The death of St. Skittles should have put a stop to gun rights.

They want to preserve thekir entitlement to rob and rape without resistance.True, but I think it goes beyond this. The government wants totally helpless peasants with their armed enforcers as the only source of actual power to resist anything. They don't care if you're a victim of crime as long as you don't have the capability to resist tyrany.

"We need to quit regulating based on statistically insignificant emotional events." But if we did that, the leftist agenda would NEVER get anywhere......and the problem of "demagoguery" is precisely what the Founding Fathers intended do avoid with all the checks and balances built into the ORGINAL US Constitution.

All gun control laws violate the right to bear arms. They do nothing to stop criminals from getting guns.

All gun control laws violate the right to bear arms. They do nothing to stop criminals from getting guns. Absolutly true. However, the 2nd amend was not about protecting yourself against individual criminals. It was written so that we can protect ourselves against the biggest criminal organization in the country - a tyrannical government.
