Breaking: NBC Fires Producer Who Created False Zimmerman Audio By Matthew Sheffield Created 04/06/2012 - 7:55pm
NBC News has fired the producer it says was responsible for creating the deceptive audio recording of George Zimmerman communicating with a 9-1-1 operator, according to the New York Times.
The network is still refusing to release the name of the producer, although according to Times reporter Brian Stelter, the producer is based in Miami and has worked there for a number of years. According to Stelter's network sources, NBC is still insisting the deceptive edit was not done deliberatiely. The network has refused to say how exactly someone could accidentally have edited the tape to make Zimmerman appear to be racially motivated:
NBC News has fired a producer who was involved in the production of a misleading segment about the Trayvon Martin case in Florida.
The person was fired on Thursday, according to two people with direct knowledge of the disciplinary action who declined to be identified discussing internal company matters. They also declined to name the fired producer. A spokeswoman for NBC News declined to comment.
The action came in the wake of an internal investigation by NBC News into the production of the segment, which strung together audio clips in such a way that made George Zimmermans shooting of Mr. Martin sound racially motivated. Ever since the Feb. 26 shooting, there has been a continuing debate about whether race was a factor in the incident.
The segment in question was shown on the Today show on March 27. It included audio of Mr. Zimmerman saying, This guy looks like hes up to no good. He looks black.
But Mr. Zimmermans comments had been taken grossly out of context by NBC. [...]
The editing of the segment was initially noticed by NewsBusters, an arm of the Media Research Center, a conservative media monitoring group. On March 31, NBC told The Washington Post that it would investigate. [...]
The people with direct knowledge of the firing characterized the misleading edit as a mistake, not a purposeful act.
While NBC has taken a good first step toward rectifying the situation, until the network releases the name of the person and explains its theory that the edit was not deliberate, its credibility is still under question.
Full Times story is here.
Was that the one that analyzed the type of printing or am I thinking of something else?
I was on-line the day the print thing was posted and it blew my mind.
I heard he’s already been hired by a new reality show called “the Running Man”.
You're right. Just look at the unending uproar over the forged documents used by Obamao and how it finally hounded him from office.
Whoops...parallel universe.
Exactly. Moreover, if you listen to the dishonestly edited version of the audio, you can hear a distinct difference in the audio background. At the edit point, Zimmerman seems to have shifted the phone in his hand or something because you can hear the noise. In the original unedited version, the background sound seems normal and actually starts before he says that he thought that Martin was black. In the edited version, it begins suddenly at the edit point.
Not only was the edit dishonest, it was sloppily done.
Does anybody have the show name, and broadcast date and time for the original airing of the tape by NBC? You need it to file an FCC complaint, which might have to be done for each of the broadcasting stations, but we’re going to have to get to it to be taken seriously. We need to make this cost big time.
Because NBC played the major role in inciting this threatening and criminal behavior that has come about as a result of their deliberate and immoral attempt to perpetuate a fraud it bears the major responsibility and liability for the harm that has come to people and our country as a result.
With it's penchant for sensationalizing the news, and fanning the flames of discontent, as well as creating an edited version of the incident that is more of a fabrication, rather than doing due diligence and researching the facts and reporting the complete truth, NBC has, itself, become an accessory to all related crimes, The network must be held legally accountable for all damages that have resulted, and will continue to result until and unless a full declaration of their role...and a complete explanation of the truth is put forth by NBC.
Firing of a "supposed" producer, who remains unnamed, is of miniscule significance and should not exempt the network from being charged and fined for the danger they provoked and the consequences their actions have already had and will continue to be felt in America. Those actions, which as we all know, were neither accidental nor without supervised approval and specific intentions.
In addition...just like a godfather in a crime syndicate, the same liability for the criminal activity that has resulted can be placed on the hands of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, The Black Panthers and all who have continued to irresponsibly cry for vigilante justice without informing themselves of the truth while encouraging more criminal revenge.

That was my quote you didn’t like, not Cboldt’s
No, the Kenyan has not been driven from office, but the forged document story is clearly still an ongoing issue, with several states having at addressed the issue.
The point being, that at least the Left is no longer able to operate with complete control of the news cycle.
...the culture at NBC that encouraged and fostered this fraud?...
They are responsible for people being attacked by gangs of black racists they incited. Liberalism is a daily Klan rally. Obammy and Holder are their grand masters.
Yelp. Although it was buckhead who made the connection, it was Howlin that created the new thread and brought attention to it,
Had just made the comment that my parent owned one of the IBMs with changable ball fonts...There where only four choices. We owned two. Very expensive.
Add a few more zeroes to that figure, and we’ll be talking. A million bucks won’t even make NBC/GE break a sweat.
True. The O&Os must be licensed. But the network, which the op was referring to, does not.
Sue the bast**ds.Sue them for every nickel they have!
I will, thanks!
I edited plenty of audiotape in the late 70s while working for various radio stations, including an all-news station in Hartford. Of course, with a reel-to-reel and a splicing block, the physical process was very different than what’s done in the all-digital editing programs. But the mental process is the same, and if you’re working on the network level, you damn well better abide by the “measure-twice-cut-once” practice or you’re gone.
There is absolutely no way this was inadvertent. None.
With digital editing, covering up the obvious edit would have been easy and quick.
I’m thinking the editor wanted to leave it in to alert people it was an edit.
What did the White House hire the guy or something?
Correct. Buckhead was the first to point out that the memos were created on a word-processing program..which was not even invented at the time they were supposedly written..something to do with fonts and proportional spacinng..which I really don’t understand. I expect if you used the SEARCH feature you could find the original threads..they were something..
He’ll have a better paying job in the Obama administration on Monday.
