Are Mark Davis and WBAP parting ways?
Dallas Morning News ^ | Bruce Tomaso

Posted on 04/06/2012 8:00:16 AM PDT by Til I am the last man standing

would seem so, from this blog entry, which Davis posted this morning:

The question has arisen, and here is the answer. My contract with WBAP's new owners, Cumulus, ended last week and we have been unable to reach an agreement on a renewal. I will be in all the other places I occupy-- Fox 4 and WFAA, and my column in the Dallas Morning News-- and I will be here in the blogosphere every day, often multiple times, with my thoughts on matters large and small. Keep a good thought for all my friends at BAP, and treat them with high regard. Everything is cordial, and I have nothing but good things to say about everyone in that operation I have served for 18 years. No matter what happens, I will be in touch.

i don’t know what your post means

but as much as I like Mark , if he goes to another station in this market I will probably not follow him.

Is there another larger market he could go to and make more money?
if so good for him.
IMO the station and market was as much the reason for his success as his style words and ideology.

We could use him up here in Seattle. KVI or KTTH..

There are also curling leagues here as Mark is a
curler.

Please. Take him. The guy is unlistenable.

Doesn’t he sub for Rush occasionally?
He is missing his calling, a Mazak disc jockey.

When he subs my FM radio gets a workout.

I've never had a more difficult time listening to someone with whom I mostly agree with politically.

I’v tried repeatedly over the years to listen to Davis, and I've never been able to. There was always an “in love with his own voice/vocabulary smugness” that would drive me away every time.

He's intelligent, articulate and a politically well connected conservative voice...but for me...unlistenable.

I'm thinkin’ their gonna start running Laura Ingraham live...I would welcome that over Davis.

Could not happen fast enough.

IMHO, he is a Conservative of Convenience (even worse than a RINO).

I agree with the poster who suggested that even though I agree with his script, I cannot stand to listen to the guy.

I listen to Rush every day except when this guy is on. Instant turnoff.

I quit listening to Davis when he walked away from his sick wife.

Never understood how or why this guy got this close to Rush.

I also turnoff if I hear his voice.

He’s probably my least favorite fill-in. He always sounds apologetic for being conservative. Not exactly what we need right now.

Belling, Williams, Stein are all great fill-ins.

Since I rarely listened to him...or followed his career, I had no idea. But I looked it up. What a complete, 100%, USDA approved, grade A ASS!! FUMD!

Never heard about the sick wife thing.

I just can’t stand the “I LOVE YA MAN, BUT...”, calling WBAP ‘BAP all the time, “LEMME STOP YOU RIGHT THERE”..., THAT’S JUST NUTS, MAN..., the talking over people, trying to all cool.

The guy is just goofy. I can’t even come up with a single word description of his weird schtick.

Hope Mark won’t fill in for Rush anymore.

“I listen to Rush every day except when this guy is on. Instant turnoff.”

I know that I have heard him but can’t quite place him. My recollection is that he is a somewhat bland, largely conventional, vaguely carpetbagger personality. I would have to listen to a recorded program to be sure.

He probably will, but it will be nice to not have him on WBAP anymore.
Ben Ferguson has been on all week and it has been welcome.

Bingo! and those annoying sound effects he always makes.
