I hope the person who actually won the ticket has a lawyer with them when they go to cash it in. I have a funny feeling Mirlande Wilson will attempt to claim it was stolen from her.

Unless she signed the ticket on the back it is as good as a Bearer Bond and she has no claim to it whatsoever.

An excellent caution. I think in CA at least they can tell just about every detail of the transaction from a collection of dashes printed on the ticket — time and date of sale, and which location, for sure. That’s some security against a simple “I said, you said” problem; if the store has surveillance and keeps it for a while, so much the better.
