I think many have erroneously believed the liberal propaganda, and I truly think the backlash from Obama’s comments surprised the heck out of ALL of them.

I have one correction to make - you state that kids haven’t been taught about the Constitution for decades. I graduated High School in 1990, and I had to pass a Constitution Test TWICE - once in 8th grade (to graduate and go to HS - 1986), and once again in 1989 during my Junior year we were REQUIRED to take US History and pass the “Constitution Test” with no less than 75% correct or we didn’t graduate. This was REQUIRED in the State of Illinois. I am not aware of whether this is a requirement any longer, but it was less than 22 years ago when I graduated. Beginning with my class our requirements for HS graduation had actually INCREASED in other subjects (Math, English, etc... but the Constitution requirement had been in place *forever* already).

I truly do think that the liberals and teachers have COMPLETELY underestimated the literacy and education of the average American. Granted, there are probably many more (esp. younger) people who have now read and understand the Constitution since the rise of the Tea Party, but I think the vast majority of us already knew. I hope they keep underestimating the rest of us due to their own delusions created by their propaganda - they’ve got a tiger by the tail and THINK they have a plan for the teeth, but that tiger is MUCH BIGGER AND SMARTER than it appears...

Thanks for your personal observations. You must have been in a remarkable school or school district if, that recently, you were taught the founding ideas underlying our Constitution, etc.

Many studies have documented that, nationally, the so-called "public" schools have eliminated such studies, especially any which included the most basic and essential concept underlying our liberty--the idea of Creator-endowed life, rights, liberty and laws to protect them.

Lynn Cheney once stated something to the effect that what had occurred could be likened to "erasing" our national memory.

There are efforts under way now, however, to get legislation passed in each state to require the teaching of the Founding Documents as a prerequisite for high school graduation.

Freepers might like to contact their state legislators to see if such bills have been introduced in their own states. It is called the Founding Documents course, I believe.
