The Obama administration wants Congress to grant it even broader authority and more funding to send U.S. troops on missions around the world dealing with everything from terror and narcotics to supporting national governments facing opposition and law enforcement operations, senior Defense Department officials told a Senate Armed Services Subcommittee. And lawmakers seemed happy to comply.
According to the administration, the line between terrorism and crime is becoming increasingly blurry. And so, the Pentagon officials claimed, legislation is needed to further blur the line between national defense and law enforcement. More power should also be granted to allow U.S. troops to intervene at home and abroad even more frequently than they already do.
"Most of the authorities that we have right now are narrowly construed to counter-terrorism, said Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Michael Sheehan (above left) in a hearing with legislators on the Senate Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities. I think for some countries we may need a little bit more flexibility to go in there."
Sheehan, citing Obamas new strategy policies, said that the Defense Department would like to begin integrating its terror, drug trafficking, and transnational crime operations to make better use of resources. He also noted that the U.S. governments propaganda apparatus or its effort to shape the global information and ideas environment, in Sheehans words would become increasingly important going forward.
But further blending traditional civilian law enforcement with raw military power will be crucial to implementing the administrations terror and security strategy, Sheehan alleged. In order to confront increasingly networked threats, we need to be increasingly networked as a government, he explained. Active threat networks will exploit the limitations the U.S. government often faces because of separate agency authorities, budgets and institutional cultures.

“..And what would you suggest?

The Congress should shut him down flat. He has all the war powers he needs and he is afraid to use those, on foreign interests like Iran, that is.
This could just be another distration from the Obamacare fiasco, but hard to say. He is too dangerous to America in too many respects to give him ANY more powers, especially over the people which like any wanna-be dictator, wants with a radical passion.
Pray the Congress has the sense to put a stop to this.
Obama's entire life has been a quest for "more power".
He's not going to stop now.
Ammo prices up 25% in 2 mos, gun sales at an all time high. commander zero openly fomenting a race war, giving his “foot soldiers” free rein.
Yeah, the writing is on the wall.
true
I agree.
Zero’s afraid to bring the troops home? gotta find some skirmish to keep them away?
Maybe to simply wear out and use up our military? Maybe to sew the world up for the anti Christ? Maybe both?
He is evil incarnate..
He plans, with his jihad and globalist fiends, to make war on America. Hollowpoints are not military rounds, but for domestic targets. He may do something realy crazy, like “Jericho” a city..
Just say no! He’s not finished trying to run Capitalism in the ground!
Has anyone in Congress even mentioned this?
Moslems hate Israel, especially stealth Moslems.
Maybe to cut out the middleman and directly wage war on Israel?
Congress will not stop him. They have already proven this.
For use in this country, I fear. If we had a patriot President I would be in favor but not with this guy and his group of Marxist. I suspect he wants to prop up Marxists and Muslim governments rather than those who oppose them.
Psalms 55:21 [The words] of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war [was] in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet [were] they drawn swords.

Something has to be done to stop this power-mad dictator. Impeachment would never make it through the Senate
All they need for impeachment is a majority in the House Gop has that. Removing him from office would be next to impossible. But the impeachment would force Obummer to go for a trial in the Senate.
