Democratic officials called for a boycott of certain companies supporting an organization pushing for voter ID laws today among them Walmart and Coca-Cola of which at least one has responded. Five hours after the boycott rallying call came, Coca-Cola issued a statement that it would withdraw support of that organization, the American Legislative Exchange Council, but not specifically because of the voter ID law support: Coca-Cola, the statement read, did not customarily support political efforts that had nothing to do with the corporation itself, and the news that ALEC had now developed an agenda independent of anything related to Coca-Cola disqualified it from the corporations support.
According to the Washington Examiner, the call to boycott came from Democratic officials, including Rep. James Clyburn, who told the paper that Democrats had staffed up to fight the laws. The group Color of Change also began a petition today, asking the corporation to stop funding ALEC. The Examiner has Cokes statement on the matter, which comes hours after the call for them to stop:

Coca Cola hearts election fraud.
So what to do, who to boycott,................
These idiots are giving us no reasons whatsoever to continue to drink their products.
I can kill rats with that stuff...why should I ingest it?
Maybe we should boycott these #ers too.
Coke just lost one of their best customers and I won't be back. Maybe that racist piggy Clyburn will take up the slack.
Now i have a good reason not to drink Coke and Pepsi. My doctor will appreciate my decision.
Please don't tell me I have to boycott this.
Amen. There are few things on this earth worse for you than sugary (or diet) soda.
Far more worried about their short term revenues than they are about America and its economy that pays their bills and has built their companies.
A sorry business attitude — very liberal actually.
Ask Rush”s former sponsors how well pissing off conservatives worked for them.

Not to mention the sugar and chemicals..
And God Bless you, you can have it!
Does anyone else feel as I do, an organization being blackmailed because they believe in the rule of law is absurd? I am at the end of my endurance regarding how things are going in our Republic. From the unamerican guy in the white house to this latest fiasco, I just cannot take much more of this crap. My ancestors and I took oaths to defend the constitution, when did those oaths expire...am I just supposed to sit by and watch the very law I took an oath to defend shredded each and every day. Up is down and down is up. Perhaps if states ceceded they should be allowed since everyone is free to do their own thing, a constitution notwithstanding. In fact, I wish my state would do just that.
So good, it deserved to be posted twice!!!
Is Barack Obama still a coke user? Or did he join the boycott?
Having been part of a group singled out by Coca Cola as being ‘unsuitable’ for support, and still to this day getting the same level of donations from Coca Cola, this simply means that they’ll shift their financial support to appear to come from a different stream.
This is how Coca Cola operates - they are extremely risk adverse with the core company. It is a near religious fervor to keep the brand away from pretty much any controversy. But nothing stops the sudden increase of support coming through, oh, say a local bottler which has drastically increased their contributions.
